RITA Award Winner, Romantic Suspense, 2015

The incomparable J. D. Robb presents the latest moving and suspenseful novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling Eve Dallas series.

In a decrepit and long-empty New York building, a man begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

After a little digging reveals that the place housed a makeshift shelter for troubled and homeless teenagers back in the mid-2040s, Eve tracks down the people who worked there. Between their recollections and the brilliant work of the force’s new forensic anthropologist, Eve begins to put names and faces to the skeletal remains. They are all girls. A tattooed tough teenager who dealt in illegal drugs. The runaway daughter of a pair of well-to-do doctors. They all had their stories. And they all lost their chance for a better life.

Everyone has something to hide. And when Eve discovers a stunning connection between the victims and someone she knows, she is even more driven to reveal the secrets of the place that was called The Sanctuary - and to find the evil concealed in one human heart.

Well done.

Much more complicated and very well done. Good for the person who can usually tell what’s going to happen before it does very touching

Classic Robb

Wonderful twist at the end. I'm ready to start over from the beginning to pick up clues that I missed the first time.

Peabody's voice is not acceptable.

Would you consider the audio edition of Concealed in Death to be better than the print version?

Absolutely not. Susan Ericksen is a good narrator but Peabody's voice is so incredibly goofy I can't stand to listen to these books. She's not a goofy character and it just makes me crazy because I love Eve Dallas, Roarke & crew.

Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Ericksen’s performances?

Yes and no. I have tried to listen to two JD Robbs and I just can't take Peabody's voice. I will not be listening to any more Death series books due to the Peabody thing, but I could listen to her narrate something else.

Powerful story line...

The "In Death" books are always (to me, anyway) interesting as well as sometimes funny and often sad and frustrating because they mostly emulate real life situations as far as how people treat their fellow humans. However, this story line about the death of 12 young girls was heartbreaking as multiple deaths seem to be more prevalent nowadays with school shootings and mass murders. The narrator is fantastic as she creates extremely believable voices a d brings the characters to life. Can hardly wait until next month for the new book to come out. Thank you to Nora Roberts foot writing l p poo these books writing as J. D. Robb
