RITA Award Winner, Romantic Suspense, 2015

The incomparable J. D. Robb presents the latest moving and suspenseful novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling Eve Dallas series.

In a decrepit and long-empty New York building, a man begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

After a little digging reveals that the place housed a makeshift shelter for troubled and homeless teenagers back in the mid-2040s, Eve tracks down the people who worked there. Between their recollections and the brilliant work of the force’s new forensic anthropologist, Eve begins to put names and faces to the skeletal remains. They are all girls. A tattooed tough teenager who dealt in illegal drugs. The runaway daughter of a pair of well-to-do doctors. They all had their stories. And they all lost their chance for a better life.

Everyone has something to hide. And when Eve discovers a stunning connection between the victims and someone she knows, she is even more driven to reveal the secrets of the place that was called The Sanctuary - and to find the evil concealed in one human heart.

Totally GREAT

What did you love best about Concealed in Death?

Strong woman character

Any additional comments?

I love this series of books and this one was just as good as the others. I love that the characters grow and change. Eve is a strong woman, but has vulnerabilities, but keeps plugging on. I like that this series takes place in the future, but is not really sci-fi as the story line is valid today. Can't wait for the next one!

Great read!

Very interesting twist at the end of the book. I enjoyed it as I have with all the previous books. I like how all the characters progress through their lives and I like watching their relationships grow.

If you love the series it is a good read

Any additional comments?

I love this series and Susan Erickson is an awesome narrator as she makes these books a lot of fun by capturing the personalities of the characters. This is a good book, but not the place to start if you have never read an Eve Dallas book. Some of the earlier books are more riveting. Work your way through part of the series and you will enjoy this one too.

Concealed in Death

Sometimes the criminal is someone that you feel bad for or have sympathy for and it seems like a no win situation. That was this story. Oddly, this many books into the series and the narrator was a little off, which I haven’t noticed before. At the beginning her Roark voice wasn’t the normal voice she uses for him. But the biggest issue was her Mavis voice. When Mavis was telling her story, it was actually Eve’s voice so it left me a little confused as to who was talking. Normally the narrator is very consistent so these two things really caught my attention.

A very good read

Everything about this was good but the language. It really was not necessary and would have been great without the "F" bomb.

Unique story in this series.

I love this series, and have been listening to the books in order. I found this title to be a bit unique for the series, and really enjoyed it. Robb's character development over so many books is genius. And I enjoy Susan Ericksen's talent enormously. In fact it's how I found this series - by searching for titles she has performed.

interesting conundrum

Roarke opens a wall in the building he is about to rehab and finds bodies left years ago. Dallas and Peabody need to find out who was responsible but to learn that, they need to discover the identities of the victims. A fascinating story expertly read.

Eve not sympathetic heroine

Eve continues to lack empathy and has not grown with series. Stories are interesting.

Concealed

A very good read. I am thought enjoying reading ( listening to) the In Death series. This is one of my favorites. Actually there are only a few of these that I won’t listen to nor did I reread them. But for the most part: Enjoy!
