RITA Award Winner, Romantic Suspense, 2015

The incomparable J. D. Robb presents the latest moving and suspenseful novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling Eve Dallas series.

In a decrepit and long-empty New York building, a man begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

After a little digging reveals that the place housed a makeshift shelter for troubled and homeless teenagers back in the mid-2040s, Eve tracks down the people who worked there. Between their recollections and the brilliant work of the force’s new forensic anthropologist, Eve begins to put names and faces to the skeletal remains. They are all girls. A tattooed tough teenager who dealt in illegal drugs. The runaway daughter of a pair of well-to-do doctors. They all had their stories. And they all lost their chance for a better life.

Everyone has something to hide. And when Eve discovers a stunning connection between the victims and someone she knows, she is even more driven to reveal the secrets of the place that was called The Sanctuary - and to find the evil concealed in one human heart.

Great and touching story

I have every book in this series and, I believe, this is my favorite. The story line is so touching without being sappy. Eve and Rourke are great together in this book. This book really seemed real to me.

Finally! Series is Back on Track Here!

Would you listen to Concealed in Death again? Why?

A great, classic-style Eve Dallas story, with all the main characters: Mavis, Peabody, Roarke, etc. Almost no horrifying, graphic violence (I had to fast forward through half of book 37, when she was writing from the killer's perspective, bc it was too disturbing and unpleasant - and I swear, I'm not usually squeamish about that kind of thing!)

Totally satisfied by this installment in the series!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I really wasn't sure who did it, why, and how etc. I had lots of theories and I was trying to figure it out till almost the end.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

Eve, as always.

Any additional comments?

Skip book 37, if you haven't already read it. 37.5 was good, and this one is great.

A new Eve

Would you listen to Concealed in Death again? Why?

yes I would it was great, it was so good to see that Eve is finally starting to soften down a bit, her abbrasive ballsy attitude had started to wear a little in the last few books, got a bit fed up with the shootum up endings. This was a more plausible ending, that sometimes you have to accepted the best of what you can get.

What other book might you compare Concealed in Death to and why?

all the other In Death Series books they are very good, I have read them all.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

You can just imagine the characters her voice is so good to listen to, she brings all the books to life, and having the same narrator for all books just makes the series work that much better.

Any additional comments?

Keep along these lines Nora as making Eve more human is certainly a better way, makes her a more interesting character.

Another 5 star book

Once again J D Robb has delivered. This series always leaves me anticipating the next one. Susan Ericksen has, as always, nailed the voices and emotions to the wall. Can't wait for the next one.

Concealed in Death

Narrator was good. Great story. Slow moving at times. I've read all the In Death stories written since they were first introduced.

another great story!

I really enjoy when Eve Dallas has to handle holidays! Susan Erickson does a wonderful Irish accent for Roarke! All her voices suit the characters.
