Publisher's summary

Lieutenant Eve Dallas struggles with the end - and the beginning - of life in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

Just as Eve Dallas begins to investigate the grisly double homicide of two young lovers - both employees of the same prestigious accounting firm - her friend Mavis need a favor. One of the moms-to-be in Mavis’s birthing class has gone missing. Normally, such a case would be turned over to Missing Persons. But Mavis wants no one else on the job - and Eve can’t say no.

Now Eve’s trying to track down the missing woman, while simultaneously unearthing the deals and double-crosses hidden in the files of some of the city’s richest and most secretive citizens, in a race against this particularly vicious killer. Luckily, her multimillionaire husband Roarke’s expertise comes in handy with the number crunching. But as he mines the crucial data that will break the case wide open, Eve faces an all too real danger in the world of flesh and blood.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

I lo ed the story but…

I love this story, as usual Eve’s adventures give me a kick! Normally, I, like Mavis Freestone character quite a lot, but pregnant Mavis is an insufferable whiner!!!!

Disappointing narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This was the first time I have listened to this narrator that I felt she didn't add to the story, especially in the first part of the recording. The main character voice was off as well as some of the others. She is normally great. Would be great for it to be redone.

Beat one yet!!!

these books have never disappointed me and this one was no different. The seriousness of the subject matter is so eloquently balanced with humor I don't know how the author does it exclamation point I can't wait to read the next one. or I guess I should say listen.

Hilarious and Horrifying

The crimes being done behind the scenes to the women was truly horrifying, especially for any mothers out there, but it was overshadowed by how hilarious the scenes with Eve and pregnant Mavis, especially when they were going into labor. I've never laughed so hard in this series!

Great - Go Eve & Mavis

Where does Born in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

LOVE...LOVE...LOVE J.D. Robb's in Death series and feel like Eve is part of the family which is what a novel is supposed to do. Normally after a time and especially after 37 of them it tends to get old BUT NOT these. Each one is an exciting and wonderful look into the world of Eve. This one is fantastic with Mavis

What other book might you compare Born in Death to and why?

Love them all

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have tried other authors for the exact reason that I love her narrative skills.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Mavis is pregnant and has her melt down.

Any additional comments?

If you are in doubt at all...don't be you will love all of the JD Robb books.

Fantastic as usual

Another episode with Eve and Roarke and the gang. And this time with death there is a little new life to mix in with it all. Murder, fraud, a baby snatching ring all combine to give Eve and her team something to get their teeth into. While I could see that possibly the two cases could be related before it was shown it didn't matter. As usual the narrator did a fabulous job. No one else could ever narrate these books!
