Publisher's summary

Lieutenant Eve Dallas struggles with the end - and the beginning - of life in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

Just as Eve Dallas begins to investigate the grisly double homicide of two young lovers - both employees of the same prestigious accounting firm - her friend Mavis need a favor. One of the moms-to-be in Mavis’s birthing class has gone missing. Normally, such a case would be turned over to Missing Persons. But Mavis wants no one else on the job - and Eve can’t say no.

Now Eve’s trying to track down the missing woman, while simultaneously unearthing the deals and double-crosses hidden in the files of some of the city’s richest and most secretive citizens, in a race against this particularly vicious killer. Luckily, her multimillionaire husband Roarke’s expertise comes in handy with the number crunching. But as he mines the crucial data that will break the case wide open, Eve faces an all too real danger in the world of flesh and blood.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

"The audio skips smoothly along, connecting subplots blithely, and Susan Ericksen never misses a beat." ( AudioFile)

I lo ed the story but…

I love this story, as usual Eve’s adventures give me a kick! Normally, I, like Mavis Freestone character quite a lot, but pregnant Mavis is an insufferable whiner!!!!

I love Mavis!

I like this book a lot because Mavis plays a bigger role in this one. It's an interesting story. Worth the time and the credit.

Born in Death

I love this book series!! The characters feel like real people, in my opinion. I like this book in general because it brings out Eve’s softer side and makes me feel that there’s a possibility of Eve and Rourke having at least one child at some point. I would love to see how Ms Roberts would write Eve as a pregnant woman and how pregnancy would affect the way Eve does her job. Let’s face, Eve is a hard ass and i love that about her, but I’m curious as to how hard assed she’s be when carrying a child. Considering she and Rourke both feel more comfortable disarming a bomb than holding a baby, that’s a dynamic I’d love to read. But the whole series gets 4 stars from me, so far. I haven’t read them all but I have read a lot of them. Love, love, love this series, keep them coming please.

Funny Ending

Loved how the plots intersect. The best was the personal interaction of the characters and how life is changing for all of them. This one had me laughing at the end. Roarke pushing Eve was hilarious and him promising not to go to Mexico. LOL!

Two Mysteries in One Book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Susan Ericksen's narrative brings the characters to life. I LOVE her characterization of Roarke! Let alone Eve's voice. She sounds exactly how I hear her in my head! Lots of levity in between the two mysteries!

What did you like best about this story?

Eve and Roarke's reluctance to be Mavis's birthing coaches. That is HILARIOUS!!

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene in the birthing class and the end. Too dang funny!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh at many points, mainly thanks to Ms. Ericksen's "delivery". Pun intended!

Great Adventures

What made the experience of listening to Born in Death the most enjoyable?

We see a softer side of Eve and Roake. They are helping their friends have an enjoyable birth of their first baby.

What did you like best about this story?

Eve didn't shake off the fears that Mavis had about her new friend Tandy and she cared about the murder of a couple who was only doing their jobs.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Susan has always done a wonderful job with her performance. I will always hope that she continues to do these books.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved how Eve and Roake was there when the two ladies went into labor. Then she fulfilled Mavis's wish to marry right away before her baby was born.

Any additional comments?

It is a great Valentine's Day story.

For Mavis lovers!

This is another winner!! It was good to have a book focus on Mavis Freestone. JD Robb was able to take a gut wrenching and interweave comic relief. Highly recommended!

Best of Eve

Best yet…Eve is a real comic and her heart is as mushy as Peabody’s when it comes to Mavis. Just loved this book!
