Though Tempe tries to be rational, she is flooded by memories of her best friend, and wonders whether this skeleton, clearly of a girl who's been dead for decades, could possibly be Evangelina's. At the same time, Tempe's love interest, Ryan, is investigating the deaths of two young girls and the disappearance of another three. Are the cases related? Tempe uses the most recent advances in forensic linguistics to identify the old skeleton, while Ryan investigates the possibility of some kind of serial predator at work now.

"With her usual blend of cutting-edge forensic science, nail-biting suspense and characters that pop off the page, Reichs, who's vice president of the American Academy of Forensic Scientists and the producer of Fox's Bones, has produced another winner in one of the genre's most satisfying series." (Publishers Weekly)
This is the first Reichs novel I've read/listened to. I thought it was well paced, a good story, had nice twists and interesting characters. While it wasn't deep, it was entertaining.
Doesn't Tempe have any friends or sisters that are not knock-out beautiful and very rich? Great read and I enjoy her wealth of knowledge but why does she have to temper her brains by being surrounded by super model type women? Having said that, I would love a movie from any of Kathy Reich's books; this one is no exception.
I've been downloading books for six years and this is the second worst I've listened to. French accents and indepth medical technical terms was a bit overwhelming. The story is weak and the characters even weaker. The author attempts to pull it all together at the end but fails miserably. Save your money!
If you like Kathy's books, then you will love this one. A little more emotional than most of her books, this one deals with a lost childhood friend. Very good story and the usual outstanding story development.
I bought this book as it was one of the top 10 downloads. Was throughly disappointed. The story is too uninteresting and technical, it takes all your will not to switch off player.
With difficulty I have reached midway and still does not have anything exciting to offer...
The narration is very monotonous and boring.
I listened for 3 hours before finally stopping. I really couldn't past all of the French. I loved the reader and will look for other books read by her, but I really couldn't get into this book at all. Do all Kathy Reichs books have so much French in them?
