Publisher's summary

Kathy Reichs, number-one New York Times best-selling author and producer of the Fox hit series Bones, is at her brilliant best in a riveting novel featuring forensic anthropologist Tempe Brennan - a story of infanticide, murder, and corruption set in the high-stakes, high-danger world of diamond mining.

Temperance Brennan has been asked to examine the corpses of three dead babies in Montreal. It’s a difficult assignment, complicated further by the fact that her long-time flame Detective Ryan is investigating the infants’ mother, a former (and possibly current) prostitute. When the woman flees to Edmonton, the investigation is joined by Royal Canadian Mounted Police sergeant with whom Tempe had an ill-advised fling over a decade earlier. The dissonant team heads to remotest Yellowknife - mining country - to pursue an ever more sinister trail.

With the Fox series Bones in its seventh season and her popularity at its broadest ever, Kathy Reichs reaches new heights in storytelling and suspense-building. Bones Are Forever shimmers with sexual tension, crackling dialogue, and the thrilling twists Reichs delivers so well.

Tempe's at it again

Forget the tv show - this is the real Temperance Brennan, back in Canada and getting herself into sticky situations in the pursuit of truth. Can't wait for the next one.

Not one of her best efforts.

Would you try another book from Kathy Reichs and/or Linda Emond?

Yes, love her books, just not thrilled with this one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Always Brennen. She has it all and helps others too.

What aspect of Linda Emond’s performance would you have changed?

Nothing, she is a great narrator. Clear and easy to understand.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

Of all the Reich's books about Brennen, This one has just too much detail. Some detail is good, but too much is boring. I find myself drifting off to think about other things. I want to be on the edge of my seat, as with the other books. The story line has merit, just too much on and on boring detail.

Good, but the series is losing it's luster.

I love the Bones series, but I think it may be time to retire. This book was okay, but not as engaging as most of the others.

Change of career or who's who

What did you like best about Bones Are Forever? What did you like least?

I am generally a fan of this series, but in this book Brennan was portrayed as having some type of legal authority, the plot was slow, the characters unbelievable. Brennan was arrogant and lacked just plain common sense. This will most likely be my last read of the series.

What was most disappointing about Kathy Reichs’s story?

Dr. Brennan's role as psuedo lone ranger detective.

Would you be willing to try another one of Linda Emond’s performances?

Yes

Do you think Bones Are Forever needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Please don't.

Great book with lots of

A Great Kathy Reichs story. It has a pleasing amount of scientific detail, just right for the above-average reader. I love hearing the dialogue between the characters and the development of her storyline. There is only mild character development in this book, as many of the characters are well-established. New characters are described well and quickly pictured in one’s mind. She also makes it easy to follow longer character storylines between the books by always adding a bit of connecting detail, so if the reader has not read the series in order, they can easily understand.

Not the best!

Would you try another book from Kathy Reichs and/or Linda Emond?

I typically LOVE Kathy Reichs books from the Brennan series.

What could Kathy Reichs have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I would have like to feel more of the 'jointedness' I'm used to in these books. I didn't feel the sort of continuity I'm used to and, it seemed to me that the minutinae got in the way of the story.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Linda Emond?

I can't think of a specific narrator that I would choose.... but NOT Emond. The vocal characterisations werent consistent and seemed, at times, to be really flat.

Any additional comments?

I hope that this isn't a trend for the series!

ZZZZZZZZZZ

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I don't think it could be

Has Bones Are Forever turned you off from other books in this genre?

No but I won't be downloading anymore from this author

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Linda Emond?

I don't think it was so much the narrator as the script she was given

Any additional comments?

Too much technical information, too many characters, hard to keep them straight in-between all the teaching. Listened all the way thinking it would have to get better but never did.
