Publisher's summary

An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Connelly Hits Another Home Run

The ball sails right out of the ball park with another Bosch thriller!

What can I say? I like Harry Bosch. If they ever say coffee causes cancer, (and I drink coffee while I read the Bosch books,) I will never be able to read another Bosch book and it will be a terrible loss.

Read it.

Decent narration, with typical Connelly twists.

The book was overall pretty good.
The narrator, used in previous Bosch books as well, has a perfect voice to play Harry Bosch. Unfortunately that voice does not necessarily suit all aspects off the book. His harsh delivery and smokey tone are perfect for a jaded and bitter detective but when delivering softer scenes in the book it feels out of place.

A narrator who could put on a husky voice instead of *having* a husky voice may have been a better choice.

That said, the book is pretty good. And I plan to keep plugging my way through the series in order.

Justice by the end of the story.

A deep look into the likely intrigue of forces inside a large police force. A good story with lots of detail that makes it seem real.

Great Book as always!!!

I am a fan of Michael Connelly's novels. I am glad there is now a TV series based on his novels. This is fantastic recognition for his books I am sure. This novel had twists within twists. Just when you were thinking things were over another part of the story picked up. Exciting and fast moving as always, I am on a marathon audio read to catch on my reading of these great detective books. Highly recommend Michael Connelly's books to anyone interested in these types of stories. And great narrator, Peter Giles, I wasn't sure if I was going to like a new narrator for this novel. Peter did a great job. I will be happy to listen to him narrate another Harry Bosch book. Thanks Michael and Peter for a great experience.

Need a new reader (bring back the old one)

The narrator of this book was mediocre at best. He uses the same emphasis in every sentence and every context. He also doesn't do a very good job of having different voices for different characters.

Returned it because the narrator was so bad

Love the Harry Bosch books, but I'm skipping this one because the narrator is so horrible. It feels like he is talking in a deep dramatic movie trailer voice. Less than 30 minutes in and I can't take it any longer. Guess I'll be reading this one in my own voice

Great story. Narrator needs coaching.

As always this Bosch novel keeps the action going. Quite a few plat twists which kept one guessing. It is a signature story by Connelly. It is like peeling back an onion. You remove one layer and a fresh one is there to examine. The crime with which this story begins is horrble as all crimes are. What we see later makes it almost pale in comparison. This was definitely worth the read.

Mr. Giles has a good voice. But he is not a very good voice actor. It is a bit distracting to the story to always have to remind oneself which character is speaking. It sounds like he is enjoying the story so I hope his next attempt he was able to gain some more experience.

Great story, poor narrating.

What made the experience of listening to Angels Flight the most enjoyable?

The twists

Any additional comments?

This was probably my favorite Bosch book yet even with the poor narrating by Giles.
