Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor delivers his most frightening and pulse-pounding thriller ever!

After a CIA agent mysteriously dies overseas, his top asset surfaces with a startling and terrifying claim. There’s just one problem - no one knows if she can be trusted.

But when six exchange students go missing, two airplane passengers trade places, and one political-asylum seeker is arrested, a deadly chain of events is set in motion.

With the United States facing an imminent and devastating attack, America's new president must turn to covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath to help carry out two of the most dangerous operations in the country’s history.

Code-named "Gold Dust" and "Blackbird", they are shrouded in absolute secrecy as either of them, if discovered, will constitute an act of war.

Intriguing

Hits far too close to home. Scary this is all too real. Wish we had a real Scot Harvath and true black ops who had someone with a backbone giving the orders.

Excellent listen

great and plausible story. Gripping novel so appropriate for thisbtime when Obama has weakened the USA. One can only hope we are as talented at thwarting enemies as this story .

Another fantastic book & performance by the narrator. I'm hoping he's not ever replaced. He is Scot Harvath

Still a thrill ride .

Great story. I have read almost all of the Havrath series. Recently I decided to try them on Audiobook, still great !!!

I have listened to several books in the last month, and narrator, Armand Schultz, was excellent. I have noticed many narrators try to speak with accents and different voices. Which is fine, however when listening to an audio book I have noticed narrators can go over the top with Southern accents, male and female accents etc. This can be distracting and make listening not as enjoyable. Sometimes they make the characters seem like characatures.

Mr. Schultz did an excellent job with the dialog. He changed up the voices enough for you to recognize who was speaking, without making the character sound fake, or exaggerated. He changed the voices enough for you to know which character was speaking, without changing your picture of the character.

Having listened to a half dozen books, this production was excellent. I will add that in my opinion, the book itself must be very well written to translate into an enjoyable audio book.

Act of War wins on both counts, I have read it and listened to it and Brad Thor is an exceptional author who found a great narrator.

Last point, I work in a busy high stress job. I enjoy doing home projects and usually listened to music. Now I have found audio books to be very enjoyable while I work. Noise cancelling headphones a good audio book, and a project and I can really enjoy my peace and quiet.

Another excellent story.

Or is it? There are a few things going in our world today that are written about by a self confessed “fact-ion” author. Kinda pretty scary if you think about what was written 11 years ago, and what is happening now.

Loved it.

Not perfect in that it's somewhat predictable, but still one of the best in the series.
