Publisher's summary

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

When presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface, it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, and soon the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists. But then CIA Director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington.

Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers, into the darkest corners of the globe, and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to the core.

Don't miss more thrillers by Vince Flynn.

Justice

I know this is fictional but I have some hope that scum like this pay the higher price. I wish Mitch was real 😃

One of the Best Mitch Rapp Books

Very well written. We see a more broken Rapp, following the events of the previous book. Well, broken internally… externally he is as tough and as decisive as ever. It gives room for more character growth.

I have read or listened too all of the Rapp books, whether written by Flynn or by Mills. This one is definitely one of my most favorite.

Awesom

I love Mitch Rapp! Love the narrator and the writing style is so easy to follow. Can't go wrong with any of Flynn's books. All of his books are a must read!

Scandelous

Fast paced Super Spy Mitch Rapp has once again kicked the "Political Ass" at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Stubbornly obstinant, he continues to slice thru murderous plots. Solid trust between Irene Kennedy and a few other well placed and highly connected friends keeps Rapp doing the job he was ultimaely trained to do.

Awesome story....anti-climactic ending

What made the experience of listening to Act of Treason the most enjoyable?

Flynn once again delivers a high-speed but extremely well thought out story. His character development in unmatched in the genre of political intrigue thrillers. The story line in Act of Treason is almost so outrageous that you wonder if American politicians could actually be as slimy, journalists as careless, and CIA operatives as efficient as they are as depicted in the book. In short, it's so ridiculous it could almost be true.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely! Flynn's dedication to character development takes nothing away from the story and doesn't slow down the plot one bit. I've read seven of his books and Act of Treason may be the best of all of them thus far.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

George Guidall has the rare ability to BECOME the characters. His voice changes just enough to differentiate between the various characters while not losing any of the listen-ability for which he's so well known. And while I know I'm probably missing out on some great books, I can't even bring myself to listen to a Vince Flynn novel that isn't narrated by Guidall.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No one thing kept the pages turning (so to speak); the riveting plot was consistently thrilling throughout the entire story.

Any additional comments?

As with most of Flynn's Mitch Rapp series of novels, he once again delivers a knock-out punch with regards to plot and character development. It's one that could have easily gone for another 200 pages, which would have done this plot justice. The plot being what it is, the ending was extremely anti-climactic. It was entirely too short and could have been drawn out to have the main antagonists get what they truly deserved and what the plot seemed to be building to. However, in defense of the ending, it was nice to see Irene finally get her hands dirty.

Good but not my favorite Mitch Rapp

I might rank this one in the second tier of Mitch Rapp stories. Still a good read. As another reviewer mentioned, the vulgarity does seem to be increasing with each story.

Thrilling

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

We were listening during our long drive and it kept us awake, alert, and captivated.

What did you like best about this story?

The suspenseful pace.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Irene Kennedy served coffee to Mark Ross.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The 4 stars for the story was for the language and the sexual content. I've been listening to the other books in the series and this story had more of the foul language and explicit sexual scenes that were disturbing than entertaining. It certainly did not add to the story. I hope the next books will not be as bad.

Another great Rapp book

Kennedy was fabulous in this story and Rapp did not disappoint. Good bye Ross and Hayes.
