Editorial reviews

Editors Select, May 2013 - This was my first time listening to a legal thriller, and I can safely say I’m hooked. I had always shied away from the genre, assuming that the plots were too fantastical – but this story has a ripped-from-the-headlines feel, creating a relevancy that will attract both newbies like me and established thriller fans. Mitzner delivers a character driven narrative, while seamlessly blending romance, criminal law, and suspense, keeling me guessing until the very end. Kevin T. Collins does a marvelous job narrating – the emotion that he pours into each character captivated me from the start. I felt all of the triumphs and setbacks of the case, and I found myself deeply invested in its outcome. I really hope that this duo works together again, but in the meantime I’m going hunting for more from both the author and the narrator. —Katie, Audible Editor

Publisher's summary

The second electrifying thriller from the "gifted writer" (Publishers Weekly) and author of A Conflict of Interest.

A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Critic reviews

"Mitzner's courtroom drama is Grisham-like in suspenseful before-the-bench action....a wicked ride, with more loops and flips than Coney Island's Cyclone." ( Kirkus Reviews)
"Ah, the crucible of the courtroom! Adam Mitzner understands its appeal so very well. Devotees of legal suspense will find themselves happily at home, zinging with the intrigue, reeling with the twists, and ultimately well fed with a satisfying (if shocking) resolution. And if you've been away from the fictional halls of justice for too long, A CASE OF REDEMPTION is where you need to come back." (Jamie Mason, author of Three Graves Full)

Super story even if a bit slow in the begining

If you could sum up A Case of Redemption in three words, what would they be?

Intense, funny, surprises

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I found myself making time to listen whenever possible.

Any additional comments?

The surprising turn of events was really a shocker. The book was a bit slow starting but the development of the story was wonderful. Great narration.

Great twists at the ending

This is my 2nd book by this author and I am glad there is a 3rd. I could do without the profanity and sex which too many authors rely on

The long road back.....

Anyone who has gone through a traumatic event and lost someone close will know that coming back is anything but easy and Mitzner throws in some interesting twists and turns to make it even more interesting. This book was worth the time spent. I highly recommend it!

Story might be good, but didn't like narration

What did you like best about A Case of Redemption? What did you like least?

The story seemed good, but I had to quit listening early into it because of the narration.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Didn't make it to the end.

What didn’t you like about Kevin T. Collins’s performance?

The performance was "over acted" and rushed. Not natural. Too many frequent short breaths. (I thought breaths were typically edited out of today's audio books? I can't listen to ones where they're not. I become conscious of the breaths and they distract me from the story.)

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe

Any additional comments?

I think the narrator has potential -- I just wish he would *relax*.

l was a little skeptical

I don't like love stories taking over legal mysteries. if I wanted to read a romance novel I would but I don't. However I knew there must be a purpose and so tolerated the romance. it was a great plot. had good twists. I would have just preferred it to be written with less romance.

Fantastic!

I found A CASE OF REDEMPTION to be an outstanding courtroom mystery. From every aspect, including Kevin Collins' narration, this one gets five stars. 6/24/18.

The ending was weak

The ending was weak after a very excellent 3/4 book listen to have such an abrupt ending.

No Comparison, Good on Its Own Merit

What made the experience of listening to A Case of Redemption the most enjoyable?

I loved the narrator Kevin Collins! He made the story for me. He was excellent at doing the different character voices, especially L.D. The female voices were also well done.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Case of Redemption?

Spoiler Alert! What L.D. was hiding and why and how he got out of it.

Have you listened to any of Kevin T. Collins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this is the first, but certainly not the last if I can find a title of interest. I love Scott Brick and Dan Hill. I am adding Mr. Collins to my list of favorite narrators.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Dan spoke to pop star's mother.

Any additional comments?

To compare this author to Grisham or Patterson is a weak one. Those two authors are extraordinary and most of the time write incredible stories. Mitzner is very good but in my opinion more works are needed before placing him among the greatest.

A really good Legal Thriller

This is the second book that I have read by the author Adam Mitzner, and I am sure it will not be my last. His writing is very good and he did a great job in showing the grief that the main character, Dan Sorensen, felt in the death of his wife and daughter.

The plot definitely had a surprise ending! The narrator, Kevin Collins, was excellent.

I look forward to reading his 3rd novel, "Losing Faith."
