A Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation starring June Whitfield as the deceptively mild Miss Marple with Ian Lavender, Joan Sims and Susannah Harker.
Elspeth McGillicuddy is down from Scotland for a holiday and boards the 4:50 train from Paddington station to visit her friend, Miss Marple.
During the journey, another train pulls alongside, and through the window Mrs McGillicuddy witnesses a tall, dark man strangling a blonde woman. She reports what she has seen, yet no one takes any notice. There is no report of any murder, no dead woman found on any train, and the police have no record of any persons reported missing that matches the description.
Only Miss Marple believes her account, and realising that the body must have been thrown off the train, with the help of maps and train timetables she pinpoints the exact spot where the body must be. With the help of her young friend Lucy Eyelesbarrow, she goes about the tricky task of uncovering a murder - and a cunning murderer.

Yes, I really enjoyed the full cast combined with the sound effects. Excellent production.
Miss Marpe, naturally.
I really cannot pick a favorite. All of the narrators did a great job and made the story a pleasure to listen to.
Yes, it was so entertaining.
The excellent sound quality and the story of Agatha Christie of course.
I listened to it on a weekend while half asleep, no need to hold a book.
Very short dramatisation of one of Agatha Christies greatest novels. Lots of well known voices on here, but it somehow just didn't quite live up to my expectations.
"Its Marple - whats not to love"
The clarity of plot, the excellent performances
Miss Marple -
June Whitfield is a genius and should be made a dame!!
Absolutely - its drama not just a story
I got this in one of the sales which made it a greater gem to enjoy. Considering the number of times you can now hear these works being performed on Radio 7 paying full price is a bit over the top.
Superb BBC dramatisation as always, these never disappoint. Wonderful cast and June Whitfield a totally credible Marple. Thoroughly enjoyed. A far fetched tale but done so well!! Perfect escape for an hour or so on a Sunday evening!
"One of the classic Miss Marple stories"

"Absolutely Love This Classic Agatha Christie ❤️"
Pure Agatha Christie at her best. No sex no in your eye violence, just pure clean sleuthing fun the Christie way.
My fave part is All Of It. You can not go wrong if looking for a relaxing few hours away from it all. Miss Marple will make you laugh & take you away into the past as she sleuths her way to solving her latest case.
These are absolutely wonderful classic full cast dramas. So much so, I have purchased the whole lot - every single Christie Audio drama is in my collection & I wait for more !
