Publisher's summary

There are 206 bones in the human body. Forensic anthropologists know them intimately, can read in them stories of brief or long lives and use them to reconstruct every kind of violent end. 206 Bones opens with Tempe regaining consciousness and discovering that she is in some kind of very small, very dark, very cold enclosed space. She is bound, hands to feet. Who wants Tempe dead, or at least out of the way, and why? Tempe begins slowly to reconstruct...

Tempe and Lieutenant Ryan had accompanied the recently discovered remains of a missing heiress from Montreal to the Chicago morgue. Suddenly, Tempe was accused of mishandling the autopsy -- and the case. Someone made an incriminating phone call. Within hours, the one man with information about the call was dead. Back in Montreal, the corpse of a second elderly woman was found in the woods, and then a third.

Seamlessly weaving between Tempe's present-tense terror as she's held captive and her memory of the cases of these murdered women, Reichs conveys the incredible devastation that would occur if a forensic colleague sabotaged work in the lab. The chemistry between Tempe and Ryan intensifies as this complex, riveting tale unfolds. Reichs is writing at the top of her game.

Great Bones Book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book to a friend that is familiar with Kathy Reichs' novels and is aware that there is alot of science and detail in the book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I always like Andrew Ryan. He adds a dash of humor and makes Tempe more human.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have loved to listen to the book all in one sitting - but it was a bit long for that! I found it best to listen in as condensed a time-frame as possible because of all of the detail and also because of the quick changes in scenery from current time to flash-back.

Any additional comments?

I've read comments about the amount of technical detail in the book. This is normal for Kathy Reichs' books. Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist - the details are necessary to move the story forward and explain what she's doing for us normal people! Also, there have been comments about the French. The book is set in Montreal for at least 1/2 of the book...this means that if the author is being realistic and authentic, there will be some French. I found that the author provided translations for all of the French words and phrases used that were not immediately clear (such as expletives where a translation wasn't needed because the meaning was implied!).

As with all of Kathy Reichs books, it's keeper!

Loved it, great reader. As with her work, I've listened to each of these books many times.

206 Bones (Unabridged)

Different initial twist, but classic Kathy Reichs.

Makes you want to hold your breath!

If you could sum up 206 Bones in three words, what would they be?

Rivoting, Classic, typical

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course Brennan herself

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I really think that you need to since there was some flashbacks and if you listen and then stop, takes a moment to recap in your head where you are.

206 Bones

It has been several years since i listened to a 'Bones' book. I am glad for the chance to finally get back to one. I love blending of the French & English dialogue. I typically enjoy the stories, and this one was no exception. Because there are so many books in Reichs's series she is a good choice for any reader who wants to live in the same book world fora while with characters who are worth following.

Another great book

I love these stories... While I don't understand all of the technical jargon it's presented in such a way that you understand more than you think:). Love the stories and how they are spun!

OK…but not great

Tempe was annoyingly sensitive and dense in this book. A bit disappointed. Still a fan of the franchise - but only so-so review. Performance was great.
