Publisher's summary

"I want a dog!"

Who hasn't heard that screamed from a child or partner? They want a dog, but you don't want one because you know it will be your responsibility to look after it when they grow bored. Well, this book isn't necessarily for you. This book is for those who want a dog but have no idea what they're really letting themselves in for.

You see, I wanted a dog. I was one of those annoying people ranting and raving how badly I wanted one. Now I am an adult, I should be allowed to get a dog! It's my house! I got my dog. I got what I wanted. I even chose the dog. Now, as I sit here typing out this blurb, I weep. Why did I do this to myself? Why have I just committed to this little bastard for God knows how many years?

If you want a dog of your own, listen to this audiobook. Perhaps see things you didn't necessarily think of (on top of having to clean up its shit from when you go on walks or when it runs in your garden). Then, when you have listened to the audiobook, make your decision again. Decide if it really is for you.

Don't want a dog? Well this is about a pug called Chewie.... Hear about Chewie's first year and just laugh at my misadventures and misery....

MY Pugs area assholes

I've had pugs for 50 years. And all that makes seven pugs. I can promise that the description of the pug in the book is exactly spot-on. however, they are adorable. I love them as my little vacuum cleaners in the kitchen, I love them and they're warm and wanting to sit my lap on a cold night, I love them when they're notoriously naughty but I left them outside including wallowing in the mud. are each and every one of my pugs has been an asshole I would certainly prefer them and others that are AHs. I've expanded my dogs and recently acquired a Great Dane and I could promise you the pugs are in control of the house not the Dane.
For me as a pug owner, this book was hilarious. I highly recommend it to anyone pug owner or not to read this. You'll enjoy yourself.

I love my pug

I love my pug and many of the points raised are correct. if you never had a dog and want one, definitely listen to this and make sure you really want and can take of a dog. I smiled and laughed out loud.

my pug is also an asshole

I hope Matt continues to write random stories about Chewy through the years. so glad I stumbled upon this gem. he could've been very well writing about my pug. Matt is hilarious and I can't wait to listen to his other works, preferably narrated by himself !

Truth!

I have 3 asshole pugs and everything stated in this is accurate. I laughed, I giggled, I sympathized.

Thank you for adding the ending that pets can be hard, it’s not all snuggles and wags. More people need to take the time to research the little beings that they are bringing into their homes.

Bug-Eyed Accuracy

And full-bellied snorts of asthmatic chuckles. As a pug mama of two, I can concur the facts presented in this case study are completely accurate and nothing but truthful depictions of pug ownership. Two twisty, noodle tails up!

Great Book

Loved this book. I really related to it as I grew up on a farm/zoo surrounded by many different types of animals. Due to this fact I love love love the overall message of being educated about an animal before you get them. A fun funny read while getting this important message out there.
