I LOVED IT!

I absolutely loved it! This book is full of action, drama, suspense and romance. The narration was excellent and kept me entertained. The author did an excellent great job with the character builds and plot. I look forward to reading more books in this series! Exciting story!

I really enjoted this. The narrator was excellent. Her pacing and range of voices for each character was fantastic. The story was fun. Its a bit different but I loved that a female had some power. Historically that didn't happen as much as it should. Its also a romance. Christiana is titled and holds that title without a man. She is sent to the castle for the summer to find a husband. She also leads a seperate life and prefers being single. The romance is a romance but one of the things I really loved about it is the romance doesn't overwhelm the story. All in all its a great read!

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed

I enjoyed this new series and hope that the author continues with the audio recording of the rest of this series and however, on certain exceptions I do enjoy stories about elements similar to this type of story but normally I'm a bit more paranormal fantasy however this was one of the exceptions . I thought the narrator was great and found it so easy to get into. That being said I was offered a free copy in exchange for my honest and true feedback and I don't leave feedback if I don't enjoy the book. So I definitely recommend trying this audio book if its has peaked your interest. Please keep it coming!!! JUST WONDERFUL!!!!

Interesting idea that could be better executed

Disclaimer: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. An interesting idea of a character living a double life but unfortunately the characters come across feeling a little shallow and uninteresting. The vocabulary in the book could definitely be improved, as certain words are overused and does not feel like they are used in the correct situation. The conflicts that occurred also feel quite staged and it seemed to have stifled character development of some characters. It was disappointing because the book started out really strong and lost it's shine slowly as the book progresses. Narration by Rachel Leblang was very well done. She portrays all the characters very well and distinctively. It was a joy listening to her narration.

Overly Concerned With Formality But Still Good

I enjoyed it, and I blasted my way through it. However, it did feel unnecessarily bogged down and beholden to Royal Manners. Like, there's a lot of canned responses and "conversations" that are polite nothing. And I know that part of that is part of the genre, but it felt heavy in the reading process to me (especially when it's a fantasy world that can literally just Not do that). The love triangle was a bit predictable. Love a good female friendship, though!

Truly, I did mostly enjoy and am planning on reading the sequel. Had surprising Ella Enchanted vibes.

Guardian Assassin to the Abused

I feel the need to start with my content warnings on this one. PG13-R easily +17 read. The summary mentions a semi-graphic assault scenes but it doesn't specify. This has a very high potential for being triggering for some readers - there are several very detailed flashbacks and descriptions of violent beatings and an attempted rape. There are two f-bombs but otherwise the language is fairly clean.

Outside of the warning this is a very well written book with relatable characters and a fantastic plot. I really enjoyed this one a lot! There are stories within the story, action, adventure, love triangles, and as the book progresses you learn so much each of the characters that you really begin getting invested in the story and it becomes more difficult to put down. I can't wait to see where book 2 goes and how the characters continue to develop.

The narrator did a fantastic job and was fun to listen to. I felt it was a bit better at 1.25x speed but I often listen faster.

Amazing

I really loved Christiana‘s complexity in this story and how creative the storyline was. It was super exciting, but also had some emotional pieces. The writing style was well done and paced nicely! Captivating

The storyline had me hooked to the very end. Great twists and turns that kept you wanting more. It made me laugh, gasp, cry and smile. Can’t wait to read book two!!!!

Midnight maiden

This was a great start to a series! Christiana is a very complex character and she has choices she needs to make and truths to discover. I loved her abilities and her conviction. She was a great assassin and helps those who need it. Now she’s hired by someone from her past to do a very dangerous job at the palace. I can’t wait for more of the world and find out how things will progress throughout the series.
