It's hit and miss

like several other comments... I'm spoiled by marc Thompson narrating. narration side as it's not horrible, the story just lacks depth. it feels like Disney trying to create a story and history that is not star wars but claiming it is. legends v Disney side... it only connect to the other books in the series by vague connections. easily could pass this book by and not miss anything in the high republic story.

A lot to take in

I liked the story, though the use of "they" took some getting used to and the language after they made it difficult to distinguish which "they" was being spoken about. There is more than a handful of characters to keep track of, so be ready. Also, no offense to this guy, but Marc Thompson was a very good performer. It was difficult to distinguish a number of the characters from each other with this performer. I enjoy backstories, so they weren't a problem for me. It might be worth it just to buy the book and read it.

Star Wars: The High Republic - Midnight Horizon

A big adventure of local young "bodyguards" and young padewans on Corelia. Corrupt officials, a big Performer that needs protection. Sabotage and Nihil attacks. Plus a few Yoda cameos.

The book is a bit long and listens as a Young Adult novel, but that doesn't bring down the fun.

It does have good pacing and enough happens to keep you "in the story".

Slow start but ends very strong

Spoiler: This takes place just before the collapse of the beacon and during on a close planet very slow at the start but picks up fast.

I'm spoiled by Marc Thompson

Halfway through the book I gave up because the characters were so indistinct I couldn't remember their names. I couldn't tell if the story was good because it all just sounded like random words with no emotion.

great book for kids/teenagers

This is definitely a book for the younger starwars fans, but that's not to say that it's not good.

Not bad overall

Overall good but it really doesn't get interesting until the last 3rd of the book.

Storyline continues in the high republic. Not a fan of performance but overall good storyline

Do the narrators not listen to previous books?

Personally nothing rips me from the story as quick as hearing a common name constantly mispronounced based on how it’s been established in a handful of previous medias. This seems like a super easy thing to get a handle on, not sure why it’s been an issue in a few stories in the High Republic era
