Publisher's summary

I thought life would be easier after I unsealed my magic.

Spoiler: it's not.

I want to free my family from my traitorous cousin, but with all the allies he's got guarding his back, even my new powers won't be enough to beat him. My best bet is to use my parent's signet ring to prove my claim of leadership.

There's just one problem...I can't find it!

Things aren't looking so good for my vampire housemates, either. As Killian Drake's conflicts with the fae get worse, it's clear that war will break out soon if something doesn't change.

Plus, Killian has gotten really weird about smelling me and invading my personal space. Every time he comes near, my heart almost pops out of my chest - but I'm sure that's just terror caused by being so close to the most feared vampire in the region.

At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

So, I'm a wizard searching for a ring, while trying to survive living with a bunch of vampires and their deadly, suddenly touchy-feely leader. Yeah, life is definitely not easier.

The Hall of Blood and Mercy trilogy is a finished urban fantasy that takes place in the Magiford Supernatural City universe. It features all your favorite vampires, wizards, fae, and werewolves, packed with humor, adventure, and a sweet, slow burn romance between a vertically challenged wizard and the most lethal vampire in town.

Great story!

The continuing story of Hazel is filled with excitement and humor. The characters were written beautifully and the storyline was awesome. It kept me reading way past midnight.

Great Follow Up!

This is a fun follow up from the previous book! There's a bit more action in this book and plenty of fun wizard politics to go around! I liked the visit to the Paragon, he's always a fun character to the story because he unashamedly has his own quirks. The relationship between Hazel and all the vampires grow as she trains and, with her newly unleaded magic, she starts to question what she was taught about violence. She really grows as a character here because her life has changed drastically and she's just trying to survive and keep the House alive.
I really liked the ending! It added some excitement to the series, so that the story wasn't just Hazel and Killian's will-they-won't-they.

This is the second book in the series. It is necessary to read the first story before this one, otherwise you will be completely lost!

There's minimal swearing and a bit more violence than the last, but not not gratuitous at all or even very detailed.

The narration is good! It has the same narrators as the previous one and the same dual narrator with the female narrator voicing the chapters for Hazel and the male for Killian's chapters. I listened at 1.1x speed.

New favorite author!

Her words and the worlds and emotions she weaves are well worth a credit. The performance from both the narrators are fantastic. I do wish I would have heard more from Alister Austin though - his voice is dreamy.

So awesome!

KM Shea’s urban fantasy series are my all time favorite books. Wasn’t much of a audiobook person until a sale and now I’m hooked.

Love the Heroine

Li love how the writer isn’t giving her powers and her strength at once. She is having her learn and build. It’s a great story line. It’s different then most of the other books in the same genre. It is also a Slooooowww burn romance. Not like most where at the end of the first book or the beginning of the second book they are together. Like how the author is building friendship and family. To me this book is Funny and heartfelt with some action and sarcasm tied together with family.

Love the story

Love Alister Austin for Killian, but I cannot stand Natalie Duke for Hazel. I'll finish the series since I love the story but probably won't purchase another series with her narrating it. I sincerely hope she's not the voice for Leila when her books get to audible. The performance gets 1 ☆ because of Natalie Duke.
The books itself and the story are wonderful, I am a huge fan of K.M. Shea. I'm so excited about her getting more of her books on audible.

Summary: Not a huge fan of female narrator, but would recommend because of the story. Possibly would just recommend the book series itself, and not the audible version.
