Publisher's summary

Gifted children and adults are often misunderstood. Their excitement is viewed as excessive, their high energy as hyperactivity, their persistence as nagging, their imagination as not paying attention, their passion as being disruptive, their strong emotions and sensitivity as immaturity, their creativity and self-directedness as oppositional.

This resource describes these overexcitabilities and strategies for dealing with children and adults who are experiencing them and provides essential information about Dabrowski's Theory of Positive Disintegration. Learn practical methods for nurturing sensitivity, intensity, perfectionism, and much more.

This audio edition of Living with Intensity is skillfully narrated by Camille Mazant.

Maybe Just Read the Book

This was difficult material for an audiobook. I’m clearly not gifted. Good information but felt more like a text book. Would love a more practical summary for parents.

Excellent!

There is not much out there about the OEs and this book went into depth. I loved it!

Wow

This is an incredibly insightful collection of research into the lives and habits of "gifted" people. If you're on the lonely end of that bell curve & are looking for some insight into your own habits and thoughts, I highly recommend Living with Intensity.

great compendium

I loved the narrators voice, but often noticed swallowing sounds and breathing (seems pertinent to a potential listener if they have the OE life!)

Overall a wonderful resource and something every educator and parent working with bright kids should draw from- regardless of "gifted" status, looking at each child as an individual with a unique blueprint might help us get off our collective over-diagnosis and pathologization of our kids and ourselves. Here's to a brighter future ✨
