Publisher's summary

Welcome to Button, where everything’s perfect, except for the occasional murder.

Louisa Henry has had the worst year. She never imagined she would be a widow before the age of 40. To cope with the sudden loss of her husband, Lou moves across the country to live near her best friend in a town as cute as a button. Even though it means quitting her fancy New York editor job, she now owns the bookstore of her dreams.

Well, almost.

She definitely didn’t dream about a dead body showing up in her alley. Found with no identification, the police plaster the man’s face everywhere, along with the name of her bookshop, inundating Lou with negative press before she can even open. Worse, Lou was one of the last people to see him alive, and she didn’t even get his name.

Worried the mystery man’s family is left without the answers she so desperately needed in her husband’s death, Lou tries to help find the man’s identity. On closer inspection, she realizes her conversation with the mystery man was full of clues. Starting with a confusing book page he left behind, Lou follows the trail. If she can solve this mystery, her bookstore might have a chance at being known for something more than murder.

Books, cats, and murder

Lou has just bought a bookshop in a small cozy town, but when a man turns up dead in her alleyway, baffling the local police, it’s up to her detail-oriented mind to solve the crime. But with all the cats she’s collecting in her new cat-fostering business, where will she find the time?

I love this series and was thrilled to see it on audio. There were a few minor errors in pronunciation, but Jennifer Jill Araya did a wonderful job bringing this book to life. This is just the thing I was looking for on a rainy day.

Great cozy mystery!

This was a fun book! Lou has moved with her cat to a new town where her best friend Willow lives. She is hoping to start over as the owner of the bookstore that she just bought. Things get a little complicated when she finds a dead man out back. There were a lot of fun characters in this story. An interesting little town and some mysteries add to the charm of the story. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was enjoyable.

Romeow to the rescue!

Littered with Trouble is Book 1 in A Whiskers and Words Mystery by Eryn Scott. I believe that Eryn Scott has written a fabulous beginning to her new series. Lou and her best friend, Willow, are wonderful characters surrounded by terrific supporting characters. I like having cats or dogs in books and Sapphire, Lou's deaf cat, along with Romeow and the other rescue cats are important to the story. I thought the mystery was interesting and well written. Maybe a romance will bloom in other books. Littered with Trouble is so enjoyable that I can't wait for the next book. Jennifer Jill Araya gives an awesome performance bringing the story to life. This series is a must on everyone's reading and listening list.

A starting over story

I liked this story of a woman starting over after the death of her husband. Unfortunately she "bought" more problems than she ever expected. This isn't a fast paced mystery, but as a cozy mystery it was fine.

Bookstore, Mystery, and Rescue Cats

If you like cozy mysteries in a bookstore and cats are part of the cast of characters, then you will love this book. In the bookstore, our protagonist, Louise, is fostering cats until she finds them their forever home. The characters are relatable and compelling. The mystery is well-written with plenty of twists and turns along the way to the big reveal. This is a great start to a series.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator is wonderful at bringing the story to life. She's excellent at narration because she's great at voicing each character clearly, making the listening experience enjoyable.

All thoughts and opinions are my own; in no way has anyone influenced my opinion.

Entertaining cozy mystery

I was excited when I heard Eryn Scott had a new series coming out. Both the author Eryn Scott and narrator Jennifer Jill Araya kept me invested from the start. I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It is a cosy mystery set in the town of Button.

The narrator did a fabulous job and certainly kept me captivated. This was a a book filled with secrets and lies. The intrigue and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story.

There are many twists, turns and surprises in Littered With Trouble as Louisa Henry follow the clues and I have to say that I was taken by surprise on a couple of occasions.

1 couldn't get into it

I bought this book by mistake. It didn't take me very long to realize that I had already read this book. I didn't finish it then and I'm not going to finish it now. The characters are flat, and the story is slow and predictable.
