Publisher's summary

Leonard and Hungry Paul is the story of two friends who ordinarily would remain uncelebrated. It finds a value and specialness in them that is not immediately apparent and prompts the idea that maybe we could learn from the people that we overlook in life.

Leonard and Hungry Paul change the world differently to the rest of us: we try to change it by effort and force; they change it by discovering the small things they can do well and offering them to others.

Love it!

I enjoyed listening to this book very much! The characters are so well drawn, unique, wise, funny, and warm. (I am still wondering why Paul is named "Hungry Paul"? )

Sweet story, excellent narration.

The story is so gentle and kind and sweet. I was pleasantly surprised. John Hopkins’ voice is silky smooth and really works well in this book. He captures all of the funny bits really well.

My new all time favorite story and audiobook

Nothing I write is ever going to fully convey how I feel about this story. All the reviews that have already been written provide a good glimpse as to what to expect. A simple, subtle, touching story. I don't know anything I could compare it to, but I wish I could because I would gladly read that as well. In a way it sort of reminded me of the movie Napoleon Dynamite. While not as obviously funny as that movie, the story was in the same vein: a simple slice of life filled with special characters and an overall feeling of comfort and warmth. The narrator for this book couldn't have been any more perfect in my opinion. I loved everything about this. I can't wait to listen to it again. read it again and gift this book to everybody I know.

Hungry For More

loved it The story had moments when I laughed out loud, felt their heartbreak and never wanted to say goodbye.

An antidote to a loud world

This story is wonderful. It is a beautiful antidote to a world where celebrity, wealth and drama are prized and ordinariness is deemed unworthy. A world where gentleness, kindness, patience, and other quiet virtues fade and only the loudest voices get heard, whether they have anything useful to say or not. It restored something in me, something that felt very lonely and lost, perhaps the quiet part of my soul.

Thank you to author and narrator for bringing this intelligent and nuanced portrait of friendship and integrity to life.

Adorable!

But, that said, it should not be dismissed. The book is full of insights into the plausible characters and the modern families who make up the book. Just lovely.
