sexy...hot...intriguing....great twists and turnsi loved all of it and can't wait for the next story!

great book can't wait for book two be on Audible

I really enjoyed the story in the call idea behind it. it was very entertaining and I can't wait for the second one to come out on Audible. I know I will be buying it. it was a great read and a great lesson. I love the concept of the story and urban fantasy. can't wait for the next.

A solid summer beach or rainy day read

I do a lot of heavy reading for my day job, so thing light, frivolous and easy to follow is alway nice when I want to decompress. The story was solid, but a bit more development of the characters earlier on would have been nice. However, all and all this book accomplished just what I was looking for light entertainment without too much mental gymnastics.

Interesting

This was an interesting yet action packed story about witches, witch hunters, and other paranormal creatures. I liked the concept of witches carrying their spells as gems or stones somewhere on their body. The world building was fantastic and the plot had me listening nonstop. That was definitely one crazy twist near the end, totally unexpected. Michael York did an amazing job bringing this book to life. I enjoyed his different accents for each character.

This story was enchanting, magical and captivating. I loved the way the author handled the enemy to lovers romance. If you are a fan of witch hunters, vampires, trolls and all things supernatural then you'll be enchanted by this book. Wade & Caleb's relationship was truly captivating, right from the start I was completely entranced in the adventure. I felt like I was constantly on the edge of my seat trying to anticipate what was going to happen next but it was so full of twists. I can't gush enough about this story and also John York's voice!!! I'm addicted and want more. This was the first time I've listened to John York and he won me over from the start, his voice is sexy, charming and I adore the rawness. If you haven't listened to or read this book yet, all I can say is you are missing out!! I was provided a copy of this audiobook and voluntarily chose to leave a review. This is my honest review.

Gritty queer romance

I really wanted to like this book--it had pretty much everything I love: magic, queerness, snark, and an excellent narrator. I found, though, that I just didn't end up liking either of the main characters. Wade was callous and caustic--with a good reason for that!--and I thought Caleb would be a good counterpoint to that, but I found him to be jaded and caustic, too. I gave it a good try but in the end I just found I couldn't connect.

I think this is very much a personal taste thing, because overall, this book is excellent quality--the writing was excellent, narration excellent, setup excellent all around. I tend to like sweeter romances, though, and this is much more gritty.

If you like gritty shows like Game of Thrones, Outlander, and Billions vs, say, This is Us or A Discovery of Witches (though maybe a bit of the latter!), you'll likely love this book! And I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. I probably wouldn't recommend it to the squeamish, though.

Fun and sexy

This book is just what I wanted and expected. It’s funny and smart with a couple of arousing scenes that keep you wanting more.

Magic, deception and true love.

This book kept me hanging to the edge of my seat, never a dull moment! Witches, witch hunters, phoenixes, trolls and so much more inhabit the London of Killer Heart. I loved following Caleb and Wade around one of my favourite cities.
I loved the characters. They start as natural enemies with what seems to be an unexplainable attraction to each other; but, as layer upon layer of lies, spells and half truths is peeled back, their true selves are revealed and them being together is not unexplainable anymore!
Very good performance by the narrator, captivating and on spot with the different characters!

Excellent

What an excellent story! I was riveted from the beginning to the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series...hoping it reaches audiobook soon.

Wonderful

An excellent, innovative tale with splendid narration by John York. A perfect balance of story elements and m/m romance. A good deal of humor and pathos included at no extra charge. I eagerly look forward to the next installment. Kudos to Rhys Lawless for an extraordinary imagination.
