The first of A.A. Milne's four world-famous books for children, When We Were Very Young introduced Christopher Robin to innumerable friends and has probably been read more widely than any other book of verse for children published in our time.
For sheer delightfulness, the children's rhymes of A.A. Milne are in a class by themselves, with their charm, humor, and understanding, to say nothing of their irresistible rhythms.

"Peter's reading of A.A. Milne's verse and poetry is about you and me and that cognac-colored moment when a scent of memory sends us flying back through time to a place in youth where, for a perfect instant, nothing is wrong." (Los Angeles Times)
I read this book to my daughter from before she was born, when she was an infant and young child She still has the copy of this book as well as When We Were Six and used them when she had to do dramatic readings in her drama classes. They verses are fun and quirky and have wonderful lessons.
My four year old loved listening to these! She thought they were so silly and fun. It's not always easy to get kids her age engaged with audio books for very long, but this one was a winner! She listened to the whole thing in just two sittings.
Great content for the little mind I am teaching and raising. A place of comfort and joyful memories for the the adult child in me.
