Publisher's Summary

When Percy Jackson receives an urgent distress call from his friend Grover, he immediately prepares for battle. He knows he'll need his powerful demigod allies, Annabeth and Thalia, at his side; his trusty bronze sword, Riptide; and...a ride from his mom.

The demigods race to the rescue, to find that Grover has made an important discovery: two new powerful half-bloods whose parentage is unknown. But that's not all that awaits them. The Titan lord, Kronos, has set up his most devious trap yet, and the young heroes have just fallen prey.

Hilarious and action-packed, this third adventure in the series finds Percy faced with his most dangerous challenge so far: the chilling prophecy of the Titan's curse.

Don't miss the other titles in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

"excellent title for 9-12 year olds"
What other book might you compare The Titan's Curse to and why?

For those kids looking for something now that Harry Potter is over, this is a good choice. Funny and exciting, with strong female characters as well as Percy, it's perfect for the 9-12 year old crowd.

"3rd time is not a charm"

I've listened to and enjoyed the first two audiobooks of this series, The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters. I am still not entirely sure how i feel about Jesse Bernstein as the narrator though. I can understand the choice, as Percy Jackson is supposed to be 12-16 years old in the series, and Jesse's voice kind of fits that age range. However, now and then he seems to change his voices that he has chosen for his characters, and doesn't seem to give them much inflection. The most awkward parts are when the book says that a character shouted, but it is still spoken the same as the rest of the dialogue. Perhaps though i've been spoiled by Gerard Doyle's flawless narrations of the Inheritance series. For the most part though, especially when only narrating the main 2-3 characters, Jesse does a good job.

My big problem with this book is the climax. No spoilers, but the climax seemed really similar to the original, rejected ending for the Independence Day movie. I thought it was a very strange choice, especially considering how relatively well-put-together and plausible (or, as plausible as a fantasy series based on ancient greek gods can be) as the rest of the stories have been so far. It really didn't fit the flow at all, and really seemed to come out of nowhere. There were some other strange choices in this book now and then as well. I suppose in a fantasy series i'm not expecting there to be a chapter called "Grover Rides a Lamborghini" I'm a car lover, but it seems out of place to have Apollo showing up in a Maserati in this type of book. The other books up to this point have pretty much kept brand names out of the story, and i wish that Riordan would have done so in this one as well. It just doesn't fit in this kind of fantasy story.

Overall, this one doesn't live up to the first two, and it is a shame because i think this one has the best potential bad guy so far in the series. The General could have been a very good antagonist. hopefully the 4th and 5th books are better.

    "Another fantastic Percy quest"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend this audiobook. I wanted to keep listening to find out how Percy would beat the skeletons sent by Dr Thorn and the General and who had captured Artemis and Anna Beth.

What other book might you compare The Titan's Curse to and why?

The Percy Jackson series reminds me of Harry Potter and Star Wars with the classic good v. evil theme. The heroes are not perfect and recognizing good character traits like loyalty as potential character flaws helps to examine our own lives.

Have you listened to any of Jesse Bernstein???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Bernstein delivers a stellar performance equal to the previous books in the Percy Jackson series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! There were several times when we continued to listen even after arriving at our destination.

Where does The Titan's Curse rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. To me this series ranks along the lines of the Harry Potter series.

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoy the adventure of the story.

Which character – as performed by Jesse Bernstein – was your favorite?

I like Percy, the main character. However I am loving Annabeth, the daughter of Athnea.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    It was, and I did.

    Any additional comments?

I have listened to the first books of this series, I am really enjoying the audiobooks of this series. Audibles has been a great find for me.

Would you listen to The Titan's Curse again? Why?

I would because I loved the narrator and the overall story line. I had already read the book and I enjoyed it even better listening to it

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the way it ended and especially that it left me wanting to read more about Percy and his friends

What does Jesse Bernstein bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

All the characters became real. He is awesome at making each character an individual.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not particularly. I was just held captive until the end!
