Publisher's summary

When Percy Jackson receives an urgent distress call from his friend Grover, he immediately prepares for battle. He knows he'll need his powerful demigod allies, Annabeth and Thalia, at his side; his trusty bronze sword, Riptide; and...a ride from his mom.

The demigods race to the rescue, to find that Grover has made an important discovery: two new powerful half-bloods whose parentage is unknown. But that's not all that awaits them. The Titan lord, Kronos, has set up his most devious trap yet, and the young heroes have just fallen prey.

Hilarious and action-packed, this third adventure in the series finds Percy faced with his most dangerous challenge so far: the chilling prophecy of the Titan's curse.

Painful narration

I really enjoyed the story and at first, I thought the narrator had improved. sadly, that thought flew south halfway through the book.

The story is good though. I really enjoyed the descriptions but character growth is a little slow for Percy.

Great story, narrator… not so much

The Percy Jackson books are great and have enjoyed reading them when I was a teenager, and sadly Jessie’s voice acting for some characters is so jarring that I can’t in good faith listen anymore, if he didn’t have to do different characters voices he would be a great narrator, but he doesn’t really have the talent to do voices.

If the publishers read this I highly suggest redoing the audiobooks and hiring someone like R.C. Bray or Ray Porter, someone who had talent with voices.

Narrator is Terrible

He makes a good Percy Jackson but all other voices are awful. The first book wasn’t bad because it was mostly Percy. The Second gets a little worse but the third made me want to quit the series.

Some changes

This is where the books start to pick up and you see the death of characters. The stakes are only going up from here.

One thing I noticed in this time through is that the audio has been updated! In the older version of this book, Jesse Bernstein tries to imitate some sort of “Chinese” accent when speaking for the part of Annabeth’s stepmom. I had listen to the book many times through a few years and that was always super memorable to me. NOW, she sounds like a normal woman and I’m glad they went back and fixed that cause that was awful. Sometimes wish they would correct other audio parts, but that would be a lot of the books.

Terrible Narrator

the way he does Blackjack's voice is terrible. I could stand the first two books, but this one he changed up voices for Mr. D and Grover, Blackjack and the hippocampi he whinnied(?) not sure what he was doing there. almost stopped listening. decided to continue.

This is awesome

I loved it so much it makes me want to start a club called the hunters of Artemis and only girls can join of course but I am your biggest fan Rick Riodan. Now if you excuse me I have to go get that narwhal song out of my head. See ya

Sincerely,

Sierra Young

audio quality is truly terrible

It seems that audible.com could not get a proper version of this audio book. The narrator's voice echos through out entire book to a point that it is difficult to listen. The quality control should have caught this.
