Publisher's summary

Thousands of years ago, fairies and humans fought a great battle for the magical island of Ireland. When it became clear that they could not win, all of the fairies moved below ground, except for the 8th Family, the demons. Rather than surrender, they used a magical time spell to take their colony out of time and into Limbo. There they have lived for decades, preparing to exact their violent revenge on humans.

Now the time spell is unraveling, and demons are beginning to materialize without warning on Earth. If humans were to find out about them, all fairies would be exposed. To protect themselves, the fairies must predict when the next demon will materialize. But in order to do so, they will have to decipher temporal equations so complicated that even a great brain like Foaly can't understand them. But he knows someone who can: Artemis Fowl.

So when a very confused demon imp appears in a Sicilian theater, Artemis is there to meet him. But he is not alone. There is someone else who has unlocked the secrets of the fairy world and managed to solve complex mathematical problems as only a genius could. And she is just 12 years old.

Great Story

Love it. Very Entertaining. Wish the series would continue on after the next few books. Wish I could find something else similar to this series to listen to.

Best written one thus far.

Storyline was well written. This one was so descriptive that it was easy to visualize the scenes in my head.
This one actually kept my attention as an adult.

Artemis Fowl is loveable criminal

Because of his dealings with the faerie people, Artemis Fowl is growing up and evolving as a compassionate human being. In this book, we’re introduced to another people of the fairie realm – the demons. I especially liked Imp #1. His characterization was fantastic, and he instantly made his own place in the Fowl world. I hope (and hear) that’s he’s coming back in book 7.

There was some loss in the book – but I won’t say what as not to spoil anything – but it definitely heralded in a new level in maturity for both Artemis and his readers.

Another Great Book

As a mother of very young children, I'm always on the hunt for books that interest me, yet are kid friendly. (no cussing, vulgarity, etc) The Artemis Fowl books are wonderful. Yes, they are technically children's books, but they definitely have enough depth and plot to interest adults. The narrator does an excellent job, and is one of the few I really enjoy. Humorous, well-written and narrated- you can't go wrong with this series.

Great New Twist

I’m not too good following series, but I love this one. Creative, funny, charming, wonderful characters, and the narrator is great. By this time (ha, you’ll get it if you read/listen to the book), Artemis is becoming a really good guy. This one has a great new twist to the fantasy world, a nasty nasty villain, a fun new character, and plenty of the action.

childhood favorite

Love this whole series. These books got me into audiobooks. The narrator does a great job with giving each character their own voice so you can immediately tell who's supposed to be talking without having to guess or wonder.
