Publisher's summary

In the vein of Gregory Maguire’s bestselling works, the award-winning artist Brom takes us on a haunting look at the true world of Peter Pan, in his first full-length novel. From modern day New York to the dying land of Faerie, The Child Thief reveals the world of Peter Pan through the eyes of an insecure runaway who is seduced by Peter’s charm. But any dreams of a fairy wonderland are quickly replaced by the reality of life and death survival as Peter’s recruits are forced into a lethal battle in which the line between good and evil is blurred.

Shockingly entertaining

It has a hard, harsh start which I found rather disturbing, but I was very glad to have made it past that. I almost didn't.
One of the best audio books I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It drew me in! Great character development. It had characters that I liked, hated and some that just held a lot of mystery. Appreciated the fact that it went into the back stories for the characters.
I really did not like the breaks I had to take in the story when I had to work, sleep or do things because I was so engrossed in the story and I couldn't wait to get back to it. ENJOY!!

Dark, Violent Fairy Tale

Fantastic novel for fans of fantasy, adventure and swords and sorcery tales. Forget the PG version of Peter Pan - The Child Thief is something else entirely.

Great spin on peterpan! Although......

I think the book was absolutely amazing! Except for how much the rider dwells on certain aspects, for example I understand that it is important to Petray the seriousness of death, But I feel there was too much emphasis in a lot of the deaths. But ultimately I think this “more accurate“ description of the original Peter Pan is immensely refreshing and was enjoyable. There is just a few things that I think the winter Should’ve done differently

Good stuff.

This is a great story. So far this has to be the best Peter Pan story. The only complaint I have is with the authors Afterword. He postulates that because modern children play video games they would take to mayhem and actual murder (with sword and spear) very easily. This is false. Yes, there will be exceptions of course. You will have the odd sociopath or whatnot but someone who just plays video games all the time? No. I am not a gamer, but I know many. Their social skills leave much to be desired. If someone does nothing but engage computer games, the first time they shoot a real weapon the physical shock alone can scare them. (Children especially). Give them a sword and say "go kill this scaly monster eating your new friend over there." Nope. He is wrong about that. What people do in digital makes no difference to how they react to the real world. Besides that this story is wonderful. Enjoy.

Great story teller.

I really found this to be a wonderfully imaginative story. How can one person be so talented at both art and writing? After listening to this story I will be collecting his books.

Pretty Solid

Pretty solid reimagining of Peter Pan. If you wanted Peter Pan to be more gloomy like how a story of a kid kidnapping kids should be.
