Whole cast make for good entertainment.

I remember being younger and seeing episodes of the redwall cartoon. The performances here are excellent and rekindled some happy nostalgia.

Great story,

Any additional comments?

The story was as wonderful as all of the Redwall books, Unfortunately, the "enhancements" took a lot away from fully enjoying the experience. Several times a speaker would be so quiet as to be barely audible, but then music would come crashing in much too loudly.

An old friend

I first read this book (and most of the rest of the series) when i was in middle school and the attitudes of its characters had a large hand in shaping my own attitudes and morals. listening to it now i find memories of my 12 year old self in the story. This is an excellent book and series for older elementary or middle school students. There is enough action to be entertaining, enough humor to be funny and enough Judaeo-Christian moral instruction to show a kid how to be a good person with out being too preachy or heavy handed.

The heavy handedness comes in with the voice acting. Brian Jacques makes a very good narrator but many of the actors are over the top in both personality and volume when voicing the characters. Many times i found myself adjusting the volume up to here the narration and then way down so the yelling characters didn't hurt my ears.

Bottom line, this is a great audio book for a elementary or middle school kid to listen to from speakers. Most adults will cringe at the hammy over acting and the volume jumps will make you flinch, especially if you are using headphones.

Great performances!

This kind of audio book quality is rare and fun to listen to. I appreciate the character voice performances and the story was exciting.

Thoroughly loved it

Thoroughly enjoyed the story and the performance was amazing. However the recording on this one, when compared to the first book, Redwall, is a little rough. There is some feedback in areas and others where someone's mic volume dropped mid dialogue. Can kind of tell their in a studio at times as they echo too.... if you can ignore that, it's perfect. Going to be getting the next one here soon! One bad recordings not throwing me off! Can't wait to see what's next!
