Rich in suspense and brimming with adventure, the New York Times best-selling Underland Chronicles unfold the fate of the Underland and the great warrior, Gregor. Suzanne Collins is also the author of the best-selling Hunger Games trilogy.
Gregor is summoned back to the Underland by the terms of a second prophecy. Spies have reported the sighting of a Rat King, a character who has been legendary since the Middle Ages. Recognizable by its tremendous size and snow-white coat, the Rat King is destined to bring a World War to the Underland. Gregor eventually comes face to face with the Rat King, and to his surprise, he finds he is unable to kill this creature. His heart tells him he's making the right decision. Will it be a decision he lives to regret?

"Fans will not be disappointed with this exciting, action-packed sequel." (Booklist)
Qualifies as a great book and fairy tale you are sad to hear it end.
Was completely pleased with the narrator and the book content.
Love this author and style of writing. This is quite different, but is a delightful change.
Never heard of Gregor or this series before, but now I am a convert. Excellent!
As the second book in this series the reader doesn't get bogged down with info from the first book but enough to follow the story. I love the fantasy land of the Underworld and Gregor's relationship with those who live there.
Gregor was my favorite character because he would be brave but also remind you that he is still just a young teenager.
Gregor, but I loved how he performed Boots.
Yes, I couldn't stop listening to it. I had it on while cooking, cleaning and in bed!
Can't wait to hear the next book in the series.
Audible Obsessed wishes she had more time for so many audiobooks.
I would certainly listen to Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane again. I have to say that the first book didn't make me eager to know what would happen to Boots and Gregor, but since it was a Suzanne Collins book, I thought I might, and I don't regret it. This book is fool of twists, turns, and suspense. Now, this one made me eager to dive into the next one, and it made me cry at least 3 times.
Spoiler alert: When all hope had been lost about Boots, despair took place. But the princess got brought back to the warrior.
I just loved his narration of Boots. So intense and real - just how little toddlers can be.
Yes, but I cried more than I laughed.
I have enjoyed both the first and second Gregor the Overlander book with my 8.5 y/o daughter. The story is something both adults and children will enjoy. The story is captivating and moves quickly and leaves you curious for the next chapter and then book. Paul Boehmer does a fantastic job narrating.
Well if I told you it would ruin the book for you.....
Awesome job ++++++
I read the books and then got the audio versions for a car trip with my grandsons. They loved listening to this series, and even though I had already read them, so did I.
This series has great characters, is extremely imaginative, and keeps moving with a lot of action and adventure.
Very well read and a really fun story.
ooh snap the ginger snap
how a boy decides the right thing is to be merciful and kind
the girl rat with the nose; she cuddled with Gregor
nice that the theme is NOT violence is the answer
Unique Fantasy Underworld
The story takes off with action almost right from the beginning. You learn more about Underworld and the inhabitants. The story takes interesting and surprising twists.
Paul really grows on you. He is more enjoyable to listen to the more I listen and come to expect some of his inflections.
I don't listen for long sessions but you could easily listen in one session.
So far I like this series even better than the hunger games. Glad I tried it.
"Defenetly no childrens book"
After the first book was good, I listened to this right away and was not disappointed. The Story was even better (more depth and suspenstion) and I am looking forward to the third part. But I don't understand how this could be called a childrens book? War, fighting, dead people (or animals)....
