Editorial reviews

In Day of Doom, the legendary struggle between the Cahill family and the menacing Vespers finally comes to a head. A virtuoso performance from theater and voice actor David Pittu enhances the action, drama, and emotion as brave Cahill siblings Amy and Dan figure out Vesper One's terrifying endgame. It's up to Amy and Dan to stop the Vespers - or watch the world come to an end. Fast-paced and thrilling, the startling conclusion to this popular series is a must-listen.

too much swearing

all the other authors did a good job in the series. this author used swearing which is totally unnecessary in a children's book and his writing wasn't any better than the other authors.

Not as bad as I thought

Any additional comments?

After reading other reviews I almost didn't get this book. To make the collection complete, I did. This isn't as bad as some of the reviews make it out. Baldacci doesn't kill off everybody. Dan is back to being Dan and I liked that. It is a good finish and the right prevails which is what is supposed to happen. It is worth the read.

Huh!

Great book! But I gotta say that Beatrice Cahill sounds EXACTLY like Beatrice Cahill! Disappointing, Pittu!

The Fall of Vesper 1

Things are starting to turn around for Dan and Amy in this book, they have figured out that Isabel Cabra is Vesper 2, and they know that Shenade is a Vesper as well, and now they know what the Vespers are up to and why they had them running around getting different items for them. Dan, Amy, Atticus, and Jake are all trying to formulate a plan now to take the Vespers down and still save their family members who are still in captivity in an unknown place. Fenix finally was able to get ahold of a phone and he contacted Ian and Evan. with one last video sent to them by Vesper 1, Ted Starling blinked out morris code to them while they were being videoed to say good by to tell them who he thinks Vesper 1 is... Rylie Mcgraph, but there is a big secret about that.. the real Rylie Mcgraph has been dead for a while now. Ian, Evan, Hamilton, and Jonah were now taken by Shenade and what a surprise they take Ian to meet his mother Isabel and the story that she tells him has him convinced that he is on the wrong side of this clue race still. Now the Vespers have more hostages and with the group of hostages growing the vespers think it is time to move them to another location. Vesper 1 wants all the Cahills in one place when he pulls off his plan. Damion Vesper.. that name has been haunting the Vespers since the begining of time with Giddian Cahill. A long line of Damion Vespers have been the head of the Vespers organization, but this Damion has been ranked the most ruthless Vesper of all times. He had no remorse about killing anyone he kept to himself and he hated everone else on earth. While the kids were on their way to stop Vesper 1, Atticus figured out the real name of Vesper 1, he thought back to his mother a lot and figured out that her assistant Dave Sperdimon actually spelled Damion Vesper, and that this man is the one who killed his mother and they knew who he was and had been around him several times, they also figures out that AJT who had been texting Dan all this time was actually Vesper 2 -(isabel Cabra). Finally everyone is in Chicago and the real battle starts the Cahill's VS. the Vespers, this fight is one that is the biggest and the toughest for the family to get through, but with the help of Isabel Cabra Damion Vesper is eliminated, it is just sad that Natalie Cabra and Evan didn't make it to see the Cahill victory. This was a great ending to this story, I must say myself that I was shocked and was not expecting Isabel to come to the aid of her family like she did, even though she said she disowned her kids seeing one of them murdered by Vesper 1 was all it took for her to defend her family.

Please let it end

Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I think this series needs to end already. 39 clues, great, this one, decent, but they should have left it at that. I tried to start the first book in the next series, but can't. This book raps everything up so nicely, leaving some to the imagination of the reader which I always like. But oh well. Naturally this whole series has issues because of the multiple authors, but overall this one wasn't bad. It was certainly the best of the six.

Ruined

If you could sum up Cahills vs. Vespers, Book 6: Day of Doom in three words, what would they be?

A disappointment

Would you ever listen to anything by David Baldacci again?

Never

Have you listened to any of David Pittu’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, everything Audible has in stock.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Baldacchino ruined a delightful series

Any additional comments?

Baldacci obviously had other things on his mind while writing this book. I am disappointed and frustrated scholastic employed him to write the final story of this wonderful series. It would give me great joy if a different writer rewrote a final book.
