Critic reviews
"With a brisk pace and pleasant, natural style, O'Malley's voice makes a good match for Anne's sweet-natured temperament and higher energy....O'Malley gives the many narrative passages, and Anne's parts, a lively quality, while setting an overall tone of nostalgia to match the story." (AudioFile)

It’s a story of a country mouse and a city mouse: 14-year-old Polly Milton travels to Boston for a stay with her friend Fanny Shaw. The wealthy Shaws’ way of life is foreign to Polly who tries to adapt but is quickly labeled “old-fashioned”. Story
Jenny is the story of Jenny Winge, a talented Norwegian painter who lives a free and independent life in Rome. Betraying her own ideals, she has an affair, resulting in a child out of wedlock, and decides to raise the child on her own. Undset gives a gripping portrayal of a woman struggling towards fulfillment and independence, who at the same time wrestles with mental problems. It is written with unflinching honesty, which makes her story as compelling today as it was nearly a century ago.

Set in the industrialising England of the Napoleonic wars, a period of bad harvests, Luddite riots, and economic unrest, Shirley is the story of two contrasting heroines and the men they love. One is the shy Caroline Helstone, trapped in the oppressive atmosphere of a Yorkshire rectory, whose life represents the plight of single women in the 19th century. The other is the vivacious Shirley Keeldar, who inherits a local estate and whose wealth liberates her from convention.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

The result was a classic in itself, which has now sold over 600,000 copies. It's both a simple adventure story and a profound allegory of the Christian journey through life, a delightful listen with a message kids ages six to 12 can understand and remember. A new look for today's children enlivens the journey to the Celestial City.

Narrator did a great job
After listening to Rachel McAdams narrate the first book, it was jarring to hear Susan O’Malley’s narration but after some time, her voice grew and I enjoyed listening. Though not as impactful (in regards to prose) as the first book, I still really love this book.

Wonderful story great performance
I chose this rating due to the long enjoyment I have had with this audible book. Susan O'Malley's performance is so magnificent that you forget only one person is narrating. She takes you right into each character. Maud Montgomery, as author, continues the growth of Anne in a superb fashion bringing her character up as well as her age

I love this series about Anne. I have read all eight books many times, this is my first time listening to it. If it wasn’t that I already love the book I am not sure if the person reading it would have captured me. It was okay reading, but overall enjoyed. 😊

love this one
The story of Anne is a timeless story. This child threw her life wins the heart of everyone both in the stories and thoes of us who read of her. If there is fault with this it would be the narrator performs more like reading the book, than as if the story where to come to life.

Anne Shirley is a wonderful character and her stories are a great escape. The imagery is lovely. This story is the right amount of exciting and calm. Makes you almost long for a simpler time. These books also hold up well if you are worried about things you loved as a child that didn't age well.
