Unexpected love
I’m so glad I kept listening to the book after the prologue. Truly, this was a good and clean read of people falling in love and others meeting their destiny based on the evil deeds!

Jewel and Eli, a sweet story
This is yet another brilliantly layered story by the GOAT of Black Romance. From the dastardly Cecile, to the fake marriage of Eli and Jewel, this book had everything - friends to lovers, gossiping neighbors, steamy love scenes, murder, and mystery. All of Beverly Jenkins historical romance novels are amazing, and this is no different. As always, Kim Staunton did a great job with the narration.

Love this story . Also with the way Beverly updates you with other charters. Tying the storylines together. True love that Jewel was able to find her love and show strength. And show the strength that it takes to go threw a tragedy.
