Publisher's summary

Pyre's humans suffer multiple cultural shocks. They discovered the Messinants dome, an ancient construction that houses a quantum-coupled gate. More shocking, they find that sentient alien races utilize a network of these domes to journey between their far distant worlds in pursuit of alliance matters. If humans wish to join this elite collection of sentients, they must contribute significantly in trade, tech, or something of equal value.

Her Highness Tacticnok, the Jatouche heir, makes Captain Harbour, a Pyrean empath, a tempting offer. Accepting Tacticnok's offer has the potential to dramatically change the future of the struggling Pyreans for the better. However, Harbour must strike a balance with the various dysfunctional factions of her society if she wishes to engage the Jatouche.

Neither Tacticnok nor Harbour has any idea what the two races might discover mutually beneficial, but the Jatouche do have problems. Despite the superior medical services the Jatouche provide to every other species, they're viewed as junior members of the alliance by the council, the Tsargit, and they dearly want that changed.

Fantastic

This series is absolutely awesome. The book and performance are a perfect match. it keeps you locked in and waiting for the next book as much, if not more so than the Silver Ship series.

exciting

This is the third book in the Pyrean Series which is a spin-off series from the Silver Ships Series by S.H. Jucha. I had a time gap between books but after I got going into the book, I began to remember the story line from the prior book. Jucha has such interesting characters that it is easy to remember them. He is a great storyteller. I can hardly wait to start the next book. The ending of the Silver Ship Series has driven me into the various spin-off series so I can continue to follow the exciting characters and story line.

I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is fourteen hours and forty-one minutes. Nicole Poole does a great job narrating the story.

Love the book.

For a book that doesn't have a lot of action it does an amazing job at keeping your attention and allowing you to enjoy the story. I wish the narrator was better. During the action packed parts of the book the narrator's tone didn't convey the importance and hardship of the events they went through. To me it was like listening to the account of a WWII vets battle experience but told in a monotone voice with no emotion of any kind.

Passive voice is preferred by this author

I actually couldn't finish this book because of the author's use of the passive voice. "The feeling was appreciated by all." "The cargo was stowed below deck." It makes is sound like a 7th grade creative writing project, rather than an author with numerous titles to his name. Adding to the lackluster read is the hokey and predictably sappy way the characters overcome challenges, there's hardly ever a situation where there is any doubt that it will all work out for Our Heros. "A great time was had by all." I bought this to get background for the interplay between the Pyreans series and the Silver Ships series, but this one just doesn't make the grade, and the author has probably lost me with this one.

Simple story, engaging characters, weak narration

Story is young adult-ish. Narration is robotic. The characters hook you tho. Worth the listen if you're in the mood for simplistic fare.
