Publisher's summary

A fascinating collection of the Bronte Sisters’ most famous work.

Offering poignant and eye-opening reflections on Victorian society, the works of Emily and Charlotte Bronte hold a special place in literary history and in the hearts of everyone who reads them.

Deeply controversial in their time for their critical look at core parts of society - including religion, class, and the role of women - their work has transcended the 19th century to provide an often-forgotten glimpse into the struggles of the past.

Now, over 150 years since their first publication, this collection brings two of their most famous books to modern listeners. Imbued with the same artful prose and gripping themes, this audiobook presents the Bronte Sisters’ classic books in an engaging audio format.

Inside this collection, you’ll find:

  • Wuthering Heights, a timeless classic which paints a stark picture of 19th-century England and challenges deeply held Victorian ideals
  • Jane Eyre, one of the most influential and beloved romance novels of its time, which is credited with revolutionizing first-person writing

Perfect for fans of classic literature, early female authors, and Victorian society, this collection is a must-listen for anyone who wants to know more about the Bronte Sisters and their legacy.

Lovely story with enjoyable narration

I love that this audiobook combines two books in one. It gives you over 30 hours of listening, all of which is engaging and fascinating. Despite never having read either of these stories, I could not have picked a better book to listen to as an audiobook. The imagery in this collection is one of the best aspects of the collections. Considering that these stories are about Victorian society, I thought the authors really captured that time while keeping the reader engaged throughout the story. It was easy to follow each character’s storyline and set the stage as the narrator moved through the story. This audiobook is great for readers looking to learn about these classical pieces of literature but needing assistance moving through them. Also, the author did an excellent job capturing different perspectives of women and their various roles during the time.

The narrator’s voice is very soft and enjoyable and pairs well with the storyline. The author has a bit of an English/British accent, which captures the style and language of the time. That said, it was a bit odd that a book about a woman was narrated by a man. Regardless, the narrator and his narration were wonderful! Lastly, the narrator beautifully captured the emotions, whether the character was speaking or merely in their heads. I could easily follow who was speaking, what they were thinking, and how they perceived their interactions with other characters. Overall, well worth the listen, especially for students listening for an English class!

Why the male narrator?

So this is worth listening to and the narrator did a good job. I just don’t understand why they picked a male narrator for two books who have female protagonists. Jane Eyre especially. Wuthering Heights - even though most of the action is told through the perspective of a female housekeeper - has a male perspective at least. I don’t know. It out me off a bit. That said, the narrator is fine as far as conveying the characters.

GREAT COLLECTION!

I love the classics! I read this book in school so it was nice to revisit it with audio this time! The narration was great and kept me entertained! It was great getting both of these stories in one book! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This narrator pronounces so many words incorrectly

I don't like this narrator. So many mispronounced words. I would return it if I could.
