In this Introduction to Personal Branding you will get a short crash course (in an English accent) into what personal branding is, how to take your first steps toward perfecting your personal brand, and you will learn some actionable tactics you can employ immediately in order to start becoming more memorable within your career niche.
Personal branding is the practice of defining your professional purpose and being able to articulate your experience and value to your target audience through digital media and social channels like blogs, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. It is also a crucial discipline to help you get the most out of in-person events such as conferences and networking opportunities where the key to a successful outcome often lies in your personal brand standing out.
Given the explosion in use of digital and social media over the past few years, the Internet has presented professionals with a magnificent opportunity to help their expertise become more discoverable, sharable and memorable through their personal brands.

Great for professionals established in their career or college leavers embarking on their first job hunt, this introduction is the perfect crash course to get you going!
Well done! Simple to understand, short and easy to measure your ability to implement successfully. I have pondered over my branding for 3 months. There has been a measure of despair in that time as everyone has an opinion, but no one wants to be "the" answer.
Mel does a great job laying it out so you can brand yourself and get on your way to making a positive impact.
I sat in a lecture on LinkedIN where part of the discussion focused on branding. "The bow tie guy", Van J. Walther, gave first hand relevance how his brand bubbles up over and over on searches. Mel not only teaches this concept but shares how to be successful. Thanks Mel.

For what it claims to be - an introduction to personal branding, it does well. However, the range is very much bases on the author's expertise and experience in the digital world, and not as comprehensive as someay expect it to be. Also, the focus seems to on how to brand yourself as an employee, vs other as an entrepreneur. Nevertheless, it is still worth a listen as one may get a few pointers in this title if they are still looking to brush up on the online branding.
The best part about this book is realizing how to get started today. As a recent college graduate, I'm aiming to take steps that will make me stand out positively. Mel's personable story and applicable tips have provided me with the inspiration and direction to get going into honing my own personal and professional brand. It's a tool I'd recommend to all - from my roommate to my mom.
This book gives me a thorough overview of why we need to pay attention to our personal brand and how we can make a start. There are a lot of practical tips such as labeling your image with your name, making your business card unique, working harder on your out of office notice, etc. which we can all start working on today. I will definitely recommend the book to my friends and peers!

There are three types of people in the world. Those who don't know what to do, those who know what do but refuse to do it, and those who know what to do and actually take action. Once you've listened to this short and sweet audio book, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to fall into category 3. All you have to do is take action. Thank you Mel for sharing your valuable insights. I now need to get busy putting them into action
