Publisher's summary

Lady Arianna Blackthorn is a woman on a mission - she intends to rescue her brother, Jak, from the infamous BleakHall prison.

BleakHall is a triple-max penitentiary where only the worst of the worst are sent - a males-only facility where not even female prison guards are allowed. So how can Ari infiltrate this fortress? With the use of a holo-projector that makes her look male (the important parts, anyway), she's determined to get in, and she has a foolproof plan for getting both herself and Jak out...or so she thinks.

Commander Lathe is a Blood Kindred who lost his younger brother to the horrors of BleakHall. He is on a mission to go undercover and collect evidence against the cruel and ruthless prison guards who run it and the Yonnite Mistresses who own it. He also has a plan to get out, but it's going to take some time, and while he's waiting, a strange new inmate comes to BleakHall - a boy called Ari.

Ari is in over her head from the minute she steps through the prison gates. She is immediately singled out by Tapper, BleakHall's most ruthless sexual predator, as his next conquest. Only Lathe's timely intervention saves her from a fate worse than death...and death itself. Lathe moves Ari into his cell to keep her safe, but he has no idea she is really a female, and Ari doesn't dare to tell him. Can Ari keep her secret from the big Kindred? Can Lathe sort through his confusing feelings for the "boy" he has taken under his wing? (Why does he smell like a female? Why can't Lathe stop thinking about him...stop wanting to touch him?) Can the two of them rescue Ari's brother and escape from the maze of sadistic guards, psychopathic prisoners, and ravenous lashers - the huge carnivorous snake-cats that roam the corridors of BleakHall at night waiting to devour any inmates attempting to get away?

You'll have to listen to Imprisoned: Brides of the Kindred, Volume 22, to find out....

loved the stoy hated the whispering

I hated the narrator whispering the thoughts of the characters. drove me nuts! otherwise the narrator did a good job. but that one thing almost ruined the book for me.

Another great Storyline

Evangeline has done it again; how does she come up when all of the different scenarios? Has quite an imagination! Narrator did a great job. I like the way we are introduced to new and different Kindred warriors, and of course, their rage. On to the next book!

I really enjoyed this book!

I read some reviews prior and I understand that not everyone is into M/M scenes but it was very very tastefully written and I really enjoyed the entire journey. I love William’s voice as he makes the Kindred men seem even sexier and it feels like Evangeline has his voice in mind as she writes! I love when he does that growly voice! ❤️ BUT and there is a big but, I hate the whispering! You don’t have to whisper the thoughts, do like Mackenzie does and just speak low in a normal voice. Please! I want to keep hearing William but w/o the whisper!

The male rape scene put me off

What is the point of going into a rape of a male in prison. Unnecessary and disgusting. Not sure what’s going on with this author but most of her books are good. Some are just awful 😞. The rape scene was so gross 🤮 and I’m just disappointed.

I loved it.

I read mixed reviews about this book but I quickly became engulfed in the story and characters. There were a couple of times I had a similar thought to other reviews that there would be no way this kindred would be fooled into believing she was male; however the male character describes at the end that he trusted what he saw more than what he smelled and I suddenly remembered my past relationships where I blindly believed certain things about the men I dated who fooled me and lied to me. When you are falling in love with someone it is natural to believe them and push doubts to the side. Anyway, so I could see how he could allow himself to believe that she was a he. I loved this story. It gave me lots of sweet butterflies and I was surprised by how hot some of the scenes were before they found out one another’s secrets.
I recommend this book and the performance is excellent even though I wish William Martin didn’t whisper so quietly and maybe just spoke more softly instead when he is demonstrating the characters thoughts.

This is my least favorite book of the series

This book was a struggle to get through. One of my least favorite in the series. Narration was horrible but I think part of that was because of how the story was written I do not recommend this book whatsoever.
