Publisher's summary

For centuries, the Bible was called "the Good Book," a moral and religious text that guides us into a relationship with God and shows us the right way to live. Today, however, some people argue the Bible is outdated and harmful, with many Christians unaware of some of the odd and disturbing things the Bible says.

Whether you are a Christian, a doubter, or someone exploring the Bible for the first time, in this six-session audio bible study bestselling author Dan Kimball guides you step-by-step in how to make sense of the most misunderstood, difficult, and disturbing Bible passages related to women, science, violence, slavery, and world religions. Filled with stories reflecting popular cultural objections, How (Not) to Read the Bible is a lifeline for individuals who are confused or discouraged with questions about the Bible. This study can be done in youth groups, single's groups, small groups, Sunday classes, and by individuals.

Sessions include:

  1. Never Read a Bible Verse (22:00)
  2. Stranger Things (21:00)
  3. Boys’ Club Christianity (25:00)
  4. Jesus Riding a Dinosaur (19:00)
  5. My God Can Beat Up Your God (23:00)
  6. Rated NC-17 (23:00)

Coordinating study guide available separately.

The Audio Bible Studies series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook's direct narration of a book's text, this audio Bible study includes high-quality, live audio sessions from the author that cover important Bible-based topics. These sessions will reflect the ambiance of the unique recording locations, immersing the listener into the teaching. While not required for the audio experience, these studies are designed to partner with the coordinating study guide, sold separately.

Audible does not align with Kindle copy

It is challenging in following the audio with my Kindle copy of this book. In this audio, Dan refers to visuals which are not located in the Kindle. The book is an excellent resource! The audio is helpful. But, the two cannot be combined to follow together as it does with other Kindle/Audible books.

Did not hold my attention. It was very basic

I'm sorry, it did not answer a question but stated it in the intro. For instant Christianity's stance on Tattooing. it was mentioned but not addressed. I listened to the book twice and did not hear it.

At Last

At last we have insight for the Bible and learned Bible reader and also for those who are not believers to get a full view of the truth of the Bible. Well written, scripture by scripture and not personal view.

Not a audiobook

I bought this on the amazon website on the book purchase page for the paper back and other options. I was lead to think it was the actual audio reading of the book, as it was right next to the paper back version. The content of the presentation or whatever is okay so far but I am disappointed that I now have to purchase the book to get the full version for my Bible study class.

based on a video presentation, what?

So, this audiobook keeps referring to a video presentation. Duh, I can't refer to the video in an audiobook. Why is this being marketed as an audiobook?? This makes absolutely no sense!! Thanks for charging me for something that is totally useless! Of course, the sample does not refer to the video presentation when you're listening to it. False advertising, I want a refund.

Not the book, but a summary.

Very disappointed in this audible version. This is being sold as it is the actual book. He continually mentioned "read the book" as he does not go into the detail of the book. I cannot recommend buying this audible version. It is essentially a sermon containing the highlights from the book. It is not the book.
