Publisher's summary

The Resurrection accounts of Jesus in the Gospels are the most dramatic and impactful stories ever told. One similarity unites each testimony - that none of his most loyal and steadfast followers could "see" it was him, back from the dead. The reason for this is at the very foundation of the Christian faith.

She turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. (John 20:14)

Hope in the Time of Fear is a book that unlocks the meaning of Jesus's resurrection for listeners. Easter is considered the most solemn and important holiday for Christians. It is a time of spiritual rebirth and a time of celebrating the physical rebirth of Jesus after three days in the tomb. For his devoted followers, nothing could prepare them for the moment they met the resurrected Jesus. Each failed to recognize him. All of them physically saw him and yet did not spiritually truly see him. It was only when Jesus reached out and invited them to see who he truly was that their eyes were open. Here the central message of the Christian faith is revealed in a way only Timothy Keller could do it - filled with unshakable belief, piercing insight, and a profound new way to look at a story you think you know. After listening to this audiobook, the true meaning of Easter will no longer be unseen.

Great Read

The writers perception of faith mingled with the Bible and events happening today is spot on. For me, this read was a great reminder that the times may change but Gods word does not. I believe it challenges the reader’s to walk in the spirit of God that should outweigh your race, and religious designation because you are a member of the body of Christ first.

Revealing the roots where true hope is found

I, like many others, have not been very good at unpacking the implications of the resurrection. In his inimitable way, Keller reveals how the gospel, in which the resurrection is inextricably entwined, is the ONLY true and lasting source of hope...totally independent of our circumstances. I cannot recommend this more highly. Enjoy!

Necessary for growth

Most people when sharing the gospel don't go beyond the cross and the forgiveness of sins to new life in Jesus through the resurrection. New christians will struggle on their own not knowing the new life they have been given as children of God. Dr. Keller has shown us in no uncertain terms what is necessary for growth. We all need this book. Mr Pratt is an excellent narrator, clear and easy to understand.

Keller explains the Gospel so well

This book is one of the best explanations of the gospel I’ve ever heard. Christ raised from the dead and everything hinges on this. If he didn’t...as the Bible says...we are to be pitied.
