Publisher's summary

He’s up to something. I know it. No man can be that handsome and mysterious. He’s probably a spy. I can’t say for sure, but I’m going to find out. Watching Heath is easy, but wanting him is the part that’s going to get me into trouble.

Lena peeks from her windows and tries to catch me doing something, though I’m not sure what she thinks she’ll see. What sort of an assassin would I be if my sweet neighbor figured me out so easily? Besides, I’m here to watch over her. The only problem is that she’s irresistible and far more alluring than my work. Choosing between them may be the death of me, but Lena is more than worth it.

Don't miss out on this newest release by Mink. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook and will definitely purchase the book when released. The voice of each character matched the personalities perfectly in my opinion, especially Heath's...YUM.
-virgin h, no details on H past
-dual POV
-no cheating or abuse
-no OM OW drama
-obsessed & possessive H. The h is a little obsessed as well.
I knew Heath's story was going to be one to read when we got a little glimpse of him at the end of Snow Angel. So, if you read and enjoyed that one, don't miss out on this one.

Sometimes your suspicions are right.

I love this story. There were so many things that I loved in this story. It was very entertaining and funny. The characters were interesting and relatable. Lena's friend Kimber was awesome and I wish I had someone like her in my life.

The way that Lena and Heath were both checking each other out cracked me up. The cooking part was awesome but also a little sad. Jinx added quite a bit of comedic relief for me. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book. Or listening to it because that was awesome as well!

Fun, if a bit shallow

Aside from the naughty bits, this plays a lot like the movies R.E.D. or Gross Pointe Blank with a hitman who falls for an innocent girl while trying to keep his job a secret. It’s all PG13 level hitman violence,
rom-com level snooping and silly, contrived danger until the hook-up… then it’s mouthy and detailed thru a couple of get-togethers.

It’s also more of an outline than a complete story. You’ll need to paint between the lines to get the full picture. Take for instance Lena, a literal shut in, who needs to psych herself up to head to the corner store and who nearly has a panic attack when Heath takes her to a restaurant. What’s with her condition?
We’ll never know because there’s no explanation given. Why has Lena never even been kissed? Also no explanation.

Perhaps because of the lack of explanation or backstory, I found Lena annoying and kind of a loser. She’s a clutzy, shut-in, virgin who can’t cook and mostly wears yoga pants and shirts with cutesy animals all over them. Why would The Brotherhood’s best assassin find that level of high school cringe appealing?
At least the sometime ditzy gals in R.E.D. or Gross Pointe Blank had brains or skills.

As long as you don’t take this too seriously, it’s a fun novella. But, I think I’d prefer a longer book that took the time to create a gal who wasn’t merely a bimbo. Even though it’s a cozy-style romance, I loved the Spotless series, by Camilla Monk, where March is an assassin with OCD and Island, while innocent, is at least a girl with tech skills. Better characters, better story, more fun and, despite being a cozy,
a surprising amount of romantic heat.
