Publisher's summary

Amazon Charts bestselling author Vivian Barz pits Susan Marlan and Eric Evans against a new menacing adversary in this suspenseful sequel to her acclaimed debut, Forgotten Bones.

Two months have passed, and the horrors of Death Farm still torment police officer Susan Marlan and college professor Eric Evans. Susan struggles to regain her zeal for fighting crime, while Eric is slowly coming to terms with his newfound “gift” of seeing the dead.

Seeking much-needed rest, Susan and Eric follow their musician friend Jake and his band to Washington State. But once they reach the cheerless town of Clancy, Eric’s murderous visions start again. Something seems wrong about the town and its aloof citizens - and suspicions turn to dread when members of Jake’s band go missing.

Eric, Susan, and Jake search deep in the dark forest of the Olympic Peninsula, where many have disappeared. But the harder they search, the less cooperative the locals become. As the case begins looking more like a murder investigation, the trio must work together to locate the lost and uncover chilling town secrets buried in the darkest of places.

An okay Book

I really liked Book 1. It was solid and a well crafted mystery with an ending I did not suspect. Book 2 on the other hand has the two major characters from Book 1 but they are now considerably dumbed down. The schizophrenic who has the visions has been lying about not seeing anything even though his visions could help. The cop blindly trusts a park ranger, even though he had ample opportunity to make sure every piece of evidence vanishes. She has an agent in the FBI who is aware that there are problems in this small town, and even tells her so, but she elects to forge ahead without him. She ignores very obvious signs, discredits witnesses because she does not think they are reliable because they don't fit her definition of reliable'. All in all this book was disappointing.

Intriguing

Great characters, love the personalities and their banter. Action, humor, emotional moments, suspenseful and absolutely thrilling plot. The narration was great, very well preformed. I recommend this book.

Great follow-up to Forgotten Bones

I really love the characters of Susan and Eric and how they have progressed from the first book. This one is definitely as dark as the first, but even more enthralling. I love the setting of a weird small town in the Northwest. I come from a weird small town that has that Stepford quality...sometimes they feel just as creepy as Clancy in this book. Great read and I hope Ms. Barz keeps going with these characters...I will keep buying if she keeps writing!!

Great Sequel

The stories continues with With more EA chill adventurous for Eric and his police officer girlfriend Susan. After the close call to death and insanity in the 1st book, they go on a “vacation” with their friends, Ben & his band mates. They are in a small town with dark and ugly people and circumstances! Good narration.

Predictable

Just okay. The characters were acting like very immaturely - I don't know. I wanted more.

Struggled to finish

Have you seen the commercial for insurance where all the kids run into the shed with the sharp objects when there is a running car they could get in and leave? Story wasn't believable in a lot of ways. Character's like girl cop in this story act like they never had any training or sense.

Dull - boring - non refundable

Jeez. It’s been a long time since I’ve encountered a book that is horribly narrated and written. God! I just can’t continue to listen to this. And I can’t return/exchange it for some reason. Don’t waste your valuable time.
