Publisher's summary

Gabriel Coleman has always known he has distant relatives, but since his father's funeral, he’s never heard a word from them.

However, Academy rules are clear: finding your family and putting them forward to the Academy to be vetted for adoption is a requirement of becoming a full-fledged member. If Gabriel doesn't complete the task, he'll be left behind.

Again.

But now that Sang Sorenson has found a trace of her mother's history, and it's leading to the same town Gabriel's family hails from, he has no excuse to put it off any longer.

Sang and Gabriel, along with other team members, are off across state lines to find out about their pasts. What really happened to Sang's mom? Why did Gabriel's family never contact him? What other secrets will they uncover?

The only thing they have to keep their sanity is each other, but even their love might not be enough to protect them from having to face family members who have long tried to erase them from their lives.

Sang and Gabriel must hold strong as they each face where they came from, knowing what they do next could ultimately change their lives forever.

Love this series

Love the series and love the narrator. I like that the different characters are all identifiable by voice and the narrator keeps them consistent. I also like that the same narrator is used for the entire series

Emotional but really good.

What an emotional roller coaster! Good story writing as always. On a side note, I really hope Sang gets to take the dog home. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Hopefully we’ll see more of Owen in the next book.

loved it.

I loved every moment of it. I had listened to the previous books in this series several years ago. Then waited for the new ones to come out. I forgot about them. Suddenly, this one and the book before this (#13 Unsung Requrem) showed up on my feed. I wasn't sure that I would remember the dynamic of the characters or the story. I was not certain if I could enjoy them like years go when I had listened to the first 12 books when everything was fresh in my mind. But , I was pulled right back into the story like before. All characters became alive with their vibrant personalities.
I am now waiting for the next one in the series.
I rarely write review for any book or product. But since I love this series and I love to know the ending, I thought I should write a review so that the author knows that her fans are (best accurate description is Fan of the characters in the series) are waiting for the next books that are promised. :)

Love love love

This is the second time listening, I actually renewed my audible account just to listen to it again lol. I love how the relationship is progressing. I think the author is doing a great job showing how sang and the relationship is maturing, and it was nice to take a break from volto with all the crazy events happening lol. I can’t wait for the rest!!

Another great book in the series

This book was definitely an adventure. I was happy to see the characters grow in this book.

my only negative thoughts aren't about the book. The narrator seems to have lost touch with the characters' voices she's made for them. I noticed it started in the previous book. Gabriel has a distinctive way of how he speaks. She made him sound like Koda until halfway through. Even then, it was still off. Hopefully, she brings them all back the way she's had them for the first 12 books. Other than that, the narrator did an amazing job.

Something different

The writing style is different from the books before, and the voices are a little bit more changed. At least she got some closure about her background.

Decent but story still seems to be going nowhere

I keep reading these books because I've invested the time to read so many already, and I'm hoping for something more to happen. Story just seems to keep dragging with not much excitement. Hopefully other booms will have more to offer.

Narrator forgets what characters sound like

I love the story and will continue to read the books but I will not be buying the audio books any longer. For some reason Ms. Eaton has changed the voice of Sang and Gabriel. Perhaps she needs to listen to previous books.
