Publisher's summary

Life has been a little hard on Waylon Evarts. Growing up in a place like Harlan, Kentucky, isn't easy. His mom is a waitress at a local diner, and his estranged father is hooked on meth. He and his mom live in a rundown trailer they inherited from his grandparents. It's paid for and on some land, but they're not living well. That is until he meets a roughneck boy named Scooter who's just moved in up the road from him. With his ripped jeans, tank top, and a mountain accent as thick as mud, Scooter is the picture of masculinity.

After getting into fights in school, he was sent to live with his grandpa. However, his reasons for fighting are justified. What starts as a sweet friendship rapidly turns into a burning love. Unfortunately, fate is seldom kind to those who don't have much, and country folks are even less kind to those who are different. Can the boys make it when all the elements seem stacked against them, or will all their hopes and dreams end in heartbreak?

Join best-selling author Daniel Elijah Sanderfer for this beautiful short story about young love and getting the chance to make it.

Really Good Book

This book was so good to listen too. The southern accent was on point and story was wonderful. It felt like I was watching some short film. But it this case listing a short film podcast. Overall it was a wonderful and beautiful story.

Thankfully not so heartbreaking

Storyline was good and gives hope for others facing similar situations. Too many gay stories have not so happy endings. Need to have more happy endings in this world.

Heartwarming

In such a short story, I can hardly expect there to be a significant plot, however I must admit towards the end, I teared up. It's a short listen, so see for yourself, you won't regret it.

A whole lot of insta!

During Audible's last sale I grabbed a few of Daniel Elijah Sanderfer's books- they were only a couple dollars and I'm always on the lookout for some quick listens for when I don't want to commit to a longer book, or when I just need something easy between heavier books. So I've been binging these books the last few days. Having listened to a few of them now, I've see that the author pretty much has a simple, easy script for these books, and that's okay!

Waylon and Scooter meet, fall in love, and live happily ever after. It's another case of instalove for these 2, I think they declared their love for each other after having met only twice. And you know what, I don't even mind! They were sweet and both had a bit of a tough upbringing, life wasn't the easiest for them, so they deserved whatever happiness they could find.

Kevin Earlywine's narration was good- he had a nice southern twang.
