Publisher's summary

B.K.S. Iyengar, hailed as "the Michelangelo of yoga" (BBC) and considered by many to be the most important living yoga master, has spent much of his life introducing the modern world to the ancient practice of yoga. Yoga's popularity is soaring, but its widespread acceptance as an exercise for physical fitness and the recognition of its health benefits have not been matched by an understanding of the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development that the yogic tradition can also offer. In Light on Life, B.K.S. Iyengar explains this new and more complete understanding of the yogic journey.

Here Iyengar explores the yogic goal to integrate the different parts of the self (body, emotions, mind, and soul); the role that the yoga postures and breathing techniques play in our search for wholeness; the external and internal obstacles that keep us from progressing along the path; and how yoga can transform our lives and help us to live in harmony with the world around us.

For the first time, Iyengar uses stories from his own life, humor, and examples from modern culture to illustrate the profound gifts that yoga offers. Written with the depth of this sage's great wisdom, Light on Life is the culmination of a master's spiritual genius, a treasured companion to his seminal Light on Yoga.

Abridged, but ok!

Really well done, even as an abridged version, it did not disappoint. I am happy.

Great book, disappointed with Audible version

The book itself was amazing. Iyengar is so wise & has so many important messages. He’s witty & relatable & inspiring. Unfortunately, the audible is an abridged version of the book. Luckily, I bought the book as well, so I was able to read the parts that were left out. I recommend that you do that, especially the preface & introduction where you learn about Iyengar’s journey. He is quite an inspiration! I don’t know why it’s not mentioned that this audible is abridged, but buyers should be made aware.

Delightful reading, story and insight

Sometimes a book simply touches the heart like no other. I’ve been listening to many Buddhist/mindfulness books recently, and on a whim (based on the interests of my roommate) I searched for B.K.S. Iyengar. To my surprise, I found this book and have now recommended it to my closest friend. As a yoga practitioner and medical professional, I find myself deeply moved by the penetrating concepts about the spiritual life of a yogi specifically and eight fold path. I hope to share this yogic wisdom with those I encounter on my journey.

Deep profound insights in yoga and life

Wow, it has been such a journey listening to this book. There is so much to learn, and even though I was lost with so much knowledge at times, the examples iyengar gave were very enlightening and furthered explained the concept. Would recommend to someone that already practices yoga.
