Publisher's summary

B.K.S. Iyengar, hailed as "the Michelangelo of yoga" (BBC) and considered by many to be the most important living yoga master, has spent much of his life introducing the modern world to the ancient practice of yoga. Yoga's popularity is soaring, but its widespread acceptance as an exercise for physical fitness and the recognition of its health benefits have not been matched by an understanding of the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development that the yogic tradition can also offer. In Light on Life, B.K.S. Iyengar explains this new and more complete understanding of the yogic journey.

Here Iyengar explores the yogic goal to integrate the different parts of the self (body, emotions, mind, and soul); the role that the yoga postures and breathing techniques play in our search for wholeness; the external and internal obstacles that keep us from progressing along the path; and how yoga can transform our lives and help us to live in harmony with the world around us.

For the first time, Iyengar uses stories from his own life, humor, and examples from modern culture to illustrate the profound gifts that yoga offers. Written with the depth of this sage's great wisdom, Light on Life is the culmination of a master's spiritual genius, a treasured companion to his seminal Light on Yoga.

Just what I needed.

I started doing yoga just for relaxation and flexibility and this book expanded on other areas of yoga that improved my over all understanding and appreciation for the practice.

A let down performance.

The message is good. However, there is no life to the narrator. It was read without any enthusiasm. So boring and annoying I couldn’t bring myself to listen further . I’m sure if this was performed by a professional it would improve the book a great deal. So sad.

There is no better book about yoga in the modern age than this.

It’s wonderful and I believe anyone with an interest in doing yoga beyond mere physical postures should read this. I didn’t love the narrator if I’m being honest, but it didn’t detract from the listen.

Maravilloso 🙏🏻

El libro está narrado por Patricia Walden y realmente le hace justicia. Como siempre, muy inspiradora la lectura de Guruji. Me encantó el libro y el audiobook.

Very Good

I love that Patricia Walden narrates and I love the wisdom of B.K.S. Iyengar and this recording is great. Only one problem annoys me and that's the awkward and often confusing abridgement of the actual book which I also own. If you want the whole story, you have to read the actual book. I wish they would recite the book verbatim as it seems to be advertised but nonetheless, this is still a good intro but do read the book as well.
