Vinnie does a wonderful job telling his story about fitness and a few other stories that I was unaware of, but pleasantly surprised to hear about. I look forward to listening to his podcast and any other books he may decide to write.
To know Vinnie, is to love Vinnie. I think you will find him funny, intetesting, and really honest. I have listened to both his podcast and this book. He usually alludes to many things in his podcast but the datails are here, in the book. its almost a companion peice for the podcast. If you ate looking for a little inspiration to get back in shape all you need is right here. Thanks Vin.
Speaking honestly Vinnie is enthused to tell you all about himself, which if you're looking for that he does a great job with his 'fitness memoir'. But if you're remotely clued in about fitness, and/or looking for more information look elsewhere because the book isn't very informative otherwise.
I had no idea people like Vinnie existed. Great diet advice right out of the box - didn't perpetually tease those knowledge nuggets until the last chapter. Read like an advice book yet with an amazing story.
Vinnie's fantastic. As he narrates his own story, his passion for healthy living and helping others get fit is very apparent. This is not your typical get fit quick book. Vinnie doesn't mince words, he's Italian for crying-out-loud. Fitness takes consistency and effort. No shortcuts, except passing on the grains and sugar. If you like a great life story, looking for motivation to get healthy, or just want to hear a guy who didn't start out in life with a golden tongue entertain you for an entire book; you've found it here. Enjoy and thank you Vinnie!
Great inspiring book! Loved that he didn't leave anything out and he shared this. Sticking with the plan now- No Grains or Sugars!
Vinnie's voice really comes through in this audiobook, and I don't just mean that he is narrating his own book. That's definitely an added bonus, but you can really get a feel for his personality by the way it was written AND narrated. Also, he gets sidetracked throughout the book, which might have annoyed me if it were any other narrator or book, but I'd say they were hilarious and fit well within the book.
I liked that it combined a suck-it-up, truth-telling approach with his humor and personal stories.
Vinnie gave the audiobook a very personal and humorous touch. In addition, he also had commentary throughout the book that any other narrator would not be able to add.
Learned of Vinnie from ACS and thought his book was going to provide rich, detailed insights about how to get and stay in top physical shape. While the book touched on basic approaches to fitness and diet it was primarily a self aggrandizement of the life and times of Vinnie told in an uninspiring and unimaginative way. Vinnie's "digressions" from the book's script and very modest attempts at humor were stilted and ponderous.
I'm not a big fitness person, but Vinnie helped me understand how to eat. I'm down 25lbs in 6 months with out starving myself. I get to eat pretty much whatever I want minus sugars and grains. After a while rice, breads, noodles, pasta and potatoes are not even missed.
