Worry about cholesterol. Avoid red meat. Eat whole grains. Could it all be a lie? We live in an era of health hype and nutrition propaganda, and we are suffering for it. Decades of avoiding egg yolks, choosing margarine over butter, and replacing the real foods of our ancestors with low-fat, processed, packaged substitutes have left us with an obesity epidemic, ever-rising rates of chronic disease, and, above all, total confusion about what to eat and why. This is a tragedy of misinformation, food industry shenanigans, and cheap calories disguised as health food. It turns out that everything we've been told about how to eat is wrong. Fat and cholesterol are harmful to your health? Nope - they are crucial to your health. Whole grains are health food? Not even close. Counting calories is the way to lose weight? Not gonna work - nutrients are what matter. Nutrition can come from a box, bag, or capsule? Don't count on it!
In Eat the Yolks, Liz Wolfe debunks all these myths and more, revealing what's behind the lies and bringing the truth about fat, cholesterol, protein, and carbs to light. You'll be amazed at the tall tales we've been told in the name of healthy eating. With wit and grace, Wolfe makes a compelling argument for a diet based on Paleo foods. She takes us back to the foods of our ancestors, combining the lessons of history with those of modern science to uncover why real, whole food - the kind humans ate for thousands of years before modern nutrition dogma led us astray - holds the key to amazing health and happy taste buds. In Eat the Yolks, Liz Wolfe doesn't just make a case for eating the whole egg. She uncovers the shocking lies we've been told about fat, cholesterol, protein, carbs, and calories and brings us the truth about which foods are healthy - and which foods are really harming us.

This book is perfect for those of us just getting started on our whole food journey. Liz Wolfe gives you lots of great facts and science that anyone can understand while leaving you in stitches from her witty sense of humor. A fantastic listen!
Definitely will read more than once because so much fantastic information and research. It's a book you want to absorb all the content and put it into practice.
I love all the research and statistics. I love the breakdown of all the nutrients. I loved the humor mixed in to keep it entertaining as you learn things. Can you tell I loved it all!
With Liz reading it she was able to modulate her voice to pertinent areas. For example, you could tell by her inflection when she was sarcastic, or hear the laughter in her tone when saying something humorous, and even hear her sing! Since she wrote it she knew how it should sound to someone listening. Excellent as an audio version and makes me want a hard copy also so I can highlight areas!
Definitely, I couldn't get enough!
This is a book with so much meat to it! Yes, pun intended! You'll find sooo much information but expressed where you want more and more. This isn't your boring school text, it's filled with Wolfe's awesome humor mixed in! Having listened to Liz on the Balanced Bites podcast I knew this would be a Grade A book! It's a book I will read again and again!
I enjoyed this audiobook greatly and was sad to have it end. Luckily it is available to listen to over and again. It has been an excellent resource for what is hopefully, a prosperous future for sustainable, clean, natural eating. I highly recommend.

Liz did a great job in compiling the information and presenting it in an orderly manner. To have her do the actual audio is yet another huge plus and I plan on revisiting "Eat the Yolks" several more times, at least.
Not only is this book FULL of amazing knowledge and busted nutrition myths, it's replete with humor and personal insight as well. Loved every minute of it and the author did a fabulous job narrating. Highly, HIGHLY recommend to anyone, especially those frustrated with mainstream nutritional advice/guidelines. Liz sets it all straight in this book and presents the info in an incredibly approachable and fun way. Awesome book, cannot recommend it enough!!!
Avid Book Listener
Perhaps. I did not feel the author brought much new to the conversation. There are a lot of books that do a better job of covering fast food/agra business and also better books that cover Paleo. This is worthwhile but, not a great book.
It was a bit snarky and I felt that she borrowed a lot of material that is already out there in spades within the ancestral diet community
It was a bit snarky
There wasn't a lot of new information in this book. It was a re-hash of information that is commonly known in the ancestral diet community
This is more of a call to action than it is a scientific journey and that is ok. But, if you are already into low carb/high fat or ancestral you will find this redundant. Again, it is more of call to action than anything else.
Great listen. Solid science delivered in an approachable way. Love the Princess Bride references!
I recommend this book to everyone who eats processed food and is afraid of fat!
Some great facts and well worth a listen. A brave stance against the diet dogma. Highly recommended. Three words remaining.
