Good Book, Good Narrator

This has always been one of my Jo Bev's favorite books and I was delighted to see it [finally] as an Audible.com offering. USUALLY, this narrator is not a favorite of mine, however, I must say that she did a MUCH better job narrating this book and I hope that she continues in this same vein.

Now, when is Audible going to bring out "Three Heroes", "Christmas Angel, and "Forbidden" to round out the Company of Rogues series?

Was a good listen

I enjoy Jo Beverley. However; be prepared to have a lengthy story line that just isn't necessary to make her books good listens. This book was somewhat like that, but it still did keep my interest. I found it very entertaining and visual in it's verbal description. I was quite drawn in by the story. I also enjoy listening Anne Flosnik in some of her reads. This one was done well.
I listened to it straight through and it was like watching a movie for me.

One of my all-time favorites

I have read this story as a book many times, and was excited to see the narrated version was part of the romance package. The narration was well done.

It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what has made this book stand out from the many romance novels I have read. I like that the hero and heroine aren't necessarily typical, that the heroine uses her head a lot, even though she doesn't make the best choice every time (like all of us), that she seriously considers the ramifications of making a possibly unsuitable choice, rather than superficially assuming love and infatuation will solve everything. Jo Beverley's writing and characters are engaging, as always - she will be sorely missed.

A Delight-

I Really liked this book. It was my first Jo Beverly Novel, and I listened to it because our friend Anne Flosnik narratored it - anything she reads has proven to be good. There were great characters and the writer used great adjectives to give you ideas of who the people were and I felt I was sitting right in the middle of many of the places that story took place. I only wish when authors are doing series that all of them are on audio. I'd like to read the Dragons Bride but the tought of Simon Pebble reading it is a turn off. I have listened to some that he does and can tolerate it but Its hard after listening to a female narrator as good as Anne.

Place Your Bets ...

WHazard is Book 9 in the Company of Rcogues. H The main characters were introduced a in earlier stories in the series. Lady Anne was jilted by 2 of the rogues who married for love instead of duty. Race worked as a secretary / companion for Con, Lord Wyvern now as companion to Lady Anne's brother. In the earlier stories, Lady Anne was described as quiet, demure, a true lady. In Hazard, she has developed way beyond a "little mouse". Race knew about her rejections, so felt compelled to check on the poor dejected lady. Much to his surprise, Lady Anne was much different ... and he was intrigued. Alas, she is the daughter of a Duke and expected to marry close t o her class. Race is not even a true member of the Ton.

Narration for Hazard was done by Anne Flosnik who did a good job. I do find it disconcerting to have different narrators throughout the series. Some are better than others. I enjoyed this one.

just like me

The heroine, Anne, is just like me, can't make a decision to save her life. She is rather delightful though and her insecurities are normal after she miraculously goes from wallflower to the catch of the season.

Horrible narrator

I was hoping that Anne Flosnick wasn't as horrible as I thought but, unfortunately, she is. Jo Beverley is very good, but get this one on Kindle. This one is unlistenable.

History rewritten!

Small irritations…Beau Brummel was over at this time and had utterly fallen out of favor and left England! While this time was the peak of the dandy, the first dandies had gambled, and spent every penny on clothing to the point of extensive debt. They were run off by those who held their debts and became an embarrassment to speak of. Gossip loses its value once someone is destitute and run from the country.

This one is better than the last 4 books.
