Publisher's summary

No longer only a warrior. Not just a queen.

Persinette Basile has a new purpose. The chains she's carried since the curse began are gone, replaced by a crown. But freedom can't exist while enemies surround Bela on all sides.

La Dame lurks on the border in Dracon, waiting for her revenge.

In Gaule, magic folk are hunted and punished for their Belaen heritage.

A journey into Gaule brings her face to face with the one person who can destroy her with one simple act: dying.

No longer tied to Alex by magic, his death should mean nothing to her.

As she learns more about who she truly is and the legacy of her family, she's forced to answer three questions.

Can she save the king of Gaule? Can he be trusted if she does? And what will it mean for her people if she finds herself unable to let go of him again?

A rebellion. A dying king. And a magical war that could end everything.

Loved every bit of this story!

Kept me on edge and had no idea what was going to happen to Personett. Can't wait to get into the next story in the series.

Over halfway through and…

This book is so schizophrenic that it becomes tedious after a while. I get that the author wants to keep her readers on the edge of their seats, but does such a poor job at it. Instead we’re left with a storyline that bounces all over the place and becomes extremely frustrating to follow along with. The three books could have been one longer book with better editing. I’m so far in it at this point that I’m afraid if I take a break and listen to something else I’ll never actually finish this one. Not sure if I’m invested enough anymore to even care about that.

Side note to authors: don’t be so gung ho writing the “kickass female MC” that you turn the love interest into the male equivalent of a wet dishrag. It’s insulting to the guy readers and unappealing to actual strong females who want their men to be men and not little boys who run to their Mommies for help.

The narrator does a fantastic job as usual.
