OBE journeys into astral religious belief areas

I've listened to this audio book twice now, the first time I missed some sections so made sure to listen to the whole book before writing a review.

The author's voice is cheerful, sincere, intelligent, humble, and she speaks in an everyday language that makes this for easy listening.

There isn't a beginning-to-end plot line as this is one astral adventure after another, interspersed with Marilynn Hughes own thoughts of her possible death of a terminal illness, as she lives with Lupus and a serious heart condition. Her worries in the physical world about possibly leaving her children are played out in the astral, and this theme threads throughout the book.

But, the territory this book covers is vast. There are UFOs, spaceships that are described, Pleidians, and what might be Greys, there are a multitude of famous spiritual masters, leaders, and workers from many different religions - Catholic, Hinduism, Sufi, Buddism, Protestant, etc. Even famous yogis are mentioned. There are cities of light in deep space, where Marilynn goes into bookstores, or libraries. There are various religious areas where there are groups of monks, or nuns, or whatever belief type that a group of people of the same belief can live together in the astral.

There are cowboys, relatives, neighbors from long ago, co-workers from long ago, there are horses, including a beautiful white winged horse that shows up from time to time when needed, and there is her dog from 20 years before. There are a multitude of demons, or demonically influenced people, evil spirits, ghosts, Satanists, and even evil spiritual leaders that hide behind a facade of good.

There are angels, including Michael and Gabriel, various guides and there are people she kind of remembers as friends from long ago, but because she is in the physical now she cannot fully recall who they are. Perhaps in other books these would be referred to as her soul group. References to past lives come up, but not as often as in the previous book Mysteries of the Redemption. But some of the people in her life now have been with her before in other lives.

She is brave, taking on the sufferings of others, and taking on large groups of demons, even when she isn't sure that she has a chance of winning. She is cheeky to demons, evil leaders, Satanists and not meek when confronted with Satan. She Loves Jesus.

The number of ancient texts named and what is said about them in the astral is interesting. Gnostic texts are given approval, although disapproved in the physical by some religious organizations.

Another theme threading throughout this book is the battle between good and evil, evidenced by trickery that needs to be discerned and outright battles. The struggle ranges from every human's daily life where ethical, compassionate, and moral choices can be made to the broad and time spanning struggles between good and evil but from the point of view where religious workers and works are the players.

I've read in other OBE books that the astral dimension just on the other side of earth is vast and includes galaxies and long epochal histories. That there are belief systems that can capture you for an eternity, keeping you busy and from evolving toward a higher self. This author made an excellent description of the religious belief systems, it's complexity and nebulous symbolism. Her courage is admirable, her powers in the astral are formidable - she can hurl lightning bolts - and her compassion and good works in order to rescue lost spirits, help possessed souls if they want it, and to even convert practicing Satanists are impressive.

And, if you are a person who denies the existence of the non physical reality, that believes all that exists lives only in the light spectrum that our eyes can interpret, or the sound spectrum that our ears can hear, then you have your own belief system. A limited belief system. An open-minded skeptic examines and considers all information. A believer only accepts information that fits into a certain box of ideas.

I hope I am an open minded skeptic, thus considering a variety of books from people who can go into the astral and remember and share their experiences. Thus, this book was pretty interesting to me. The author's voice has a positive tone and that made listening to her book even more enjoyable.
