The story was good and the details were moving but CCH Pounder was overly dramatic to the point it was sickening. She sounded like an overly ambitious second grader in a school production. They should have used another voice actor with a calmer demeanor.

Soul touching
As a social worker, I worked with many youths that did not have the will power to survive of end generational abuse. I appreciate Ruthie bravely talking about the abuse she suffered and how she survived. Enjoyed the book and the audio.

Who was your favorite character and why?
Gal is my favorite character. Gal perseveres when many would have given up. I respect and admire such tenacity and willpower.
What about C.C.H. Pounder’s performance did you like?
I am a fan of Ms. Pounder's, which prompted me to purchase he book. Ms. Pounder's performance definitely did not disappoint. She embodied the essence of Gal, which made Gal feel tangible and real. Without such a strong, honest and believable performance by Ms. Pounder, I more than likely would not have connected with Gal and her story.
