Realizing he must look the part of a well-to-do gentleman, he buys gentleman clothes, and acts the part. People ask fewer questions of a gentleman.
What he isn't prepared for is meeting an intelligent Lady, Miss Abigale Campbell. Her father has died, leaving the family owned shipping business, with generation steam-powered riverboats. They have dreams of building steam-powered airships, but because she is a woman, there are those who stand against them.
Capt. Myers' fighting is not over, it seems business is war. They decide to become partners, and with his warfighting experience, and her brains the world is not as intimidating as it once seemed.

Every author has a “not my best” book
I own most of the Haddock audio books and this one seems a little bit “off“. It isn’t “bad”, it’s just OK. The central character lacked the personal motivation most of his MCs have.
When I am feeling down, I often turn to one of his books and binge on it. This one just lacks the enthusiasm and purpose that his MCs usually exude.
If you are not one of Haddock’s fans, I’d recommend you choose one of his other books… such as Lord of the High Reaches or even Hand Made Mage.

alternate universe story
yes it was enjoyable an excellent Sunday escape escape story. but like to many of mister Haddock's books the ending begs for another book.
Having two narrators (male & female), was excellent. making the Audible version that much better.
Yeah gave it five stars even if it did leave me me hanging at the end.
