Publisher's summary

FBI-certified forensic artist Carrie Stuart Parks infuses her real-life expertise into her award-winning suspense novels.

Evelyn McTavish’s world came crashing down with the suicide of her fiancé. As she struggles to put her life back together and make a living from her art, she receives a call that her dog is about to be destroyed at the pound. Except she doesn’t own a dog. The shelter is adamant that the microchip embedded in the canine with her name and address makes it hers.

Evelyn recognizes the dog as one owned by archaeologist John Coyote because she was commissioned to draw the two of them. The simple solution is to return the dog to his owner - but she arrives only to discover John’s murdered body.

As Evelyn herself becomes a target, she crosses paths with undercover FBI agent Sawyer Price. The more he gets to know her, the more personally invested he becomes in keeping her safe. Together, they’re desperate to find the links between so many disparate pieces.

Stolen art. A New Mexico archaeological dig. An abandoned dog. And a secret that’s worth killing for. And the clock is ticking.

Praise for Fragments of Fear:

“A rollercoaster ride with a lovable protagonist and a suspenseful, twisty plot.” (Colleen Coble)

“Over the years, Carrie has mastered forensic art, fine art, and her own brand of offbeat humor. As a novelist she combines these skills with another: puzzle writing - scattering puzzle pieces all over her fictional universe and then dropping them into place in twists, surprises, revelations, and side-pocket whimsy until the big picture emerges, never too soon, always on the brink of disaster.” (Frank Peretti)

“I love Carrie Stuart Park's skill in writing characters with hysterical humor, unwitting courage, and page-turning mystery. I hope my readers won't abandon me completely when they learn about her!” (Terri Blackstock, USA Today best-selling author of the If I Run series)

“Carrie Stuart Parks has been a favorite author of mine since I read her first book. She's one of the few authors I'll give up sleep for! Without fail, she delivers stories that reel me in and keep me turning pages until I'm done and craving more. Fragments of Fear is sure to make you a Carrie Stuart Parks addict as well! #CSPaddictandproudofit” (Lynette Eason, best-selling, award-winning author)

Too preachy

It was a good story, with excellent narration. I just disliked the preachy bits about reading the bible, praying to the Christian god for guidance and all the “trust in the lord” crap. I listened to the whole thing cuz I payed for it, and I really did want to know how it ended (as I said, it was a good story), but the preachy stuff kinda ruined it for me, which is why I gave it only 2 stars.

I had another of this author’s books and ran into the same thing, but it was so long ago I had forgotten why I did not purchase her other stories. Now I remember and will not get any more. It’s unfortunate because Ms. Parks weaves a good story.

Great!

What a plot twist. This kept me listening all along. I couldn’t wait to get back to the book to see what came next. Enjoy - I won’t leave any spoilers…

Absolutely lovely

What a gripping story and it’s so lovely to see one of the many ways God reaches out to people to save them

Enjoyable characters

I really like the tongue-in-cheek humor of Carrie Parks. Her characters are believable, and the interactions with Marley are delightful.

excellent story!

This book is one of Mrs. Parks best yet! She created a believable story and had more twist and turns than most authors. super read! The narrator was also excellent.

It Kept my Attention

So many lies were told to Tavish. She didn't know who to trust. And so many people were after the poor girl. I was relieved to finally find someone who seemed to believe her but the suspense wasn't over by a long shot.
This is my first by Carrie Stuart Parks but it won't be my last.

Grew on me

Wasn’t sure at first, about the story AND the reader, but both grew on me. I think the reader was a very good choice to bring the main character to life, made her very real. Overall, I enjoyed the story!

Meh…

I love a good mystery/crime drama and I was so looking forward to one that was told with profanity and worldly themes filtered out but…although this was definitely filtered as I had hoped, I quickly grew tired of the fragile state of the main character who was at one moment chasing down a murderer and at the next chanting about how everything’s going to be ok - breathe out fear etc. The performance was equally as whiney and added to the unbelievability of the story. I don’t usually give a negative review, but if you’ve read this far, trust me - don’t waste your Audible credit on this one.

main character annoying

I just could not listen to the main character after the first two chapters. She is full of personality traits which are so very weak that you need to be a psychiatrist to even think of understanding. This is a book NOT for me.
