Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Cara Putman returns with a romantic legal thriller that will challenge the assumptions of truth tellers everywhere.

Savannah Daniels has worked hard to build her law practice, to surround herself with good friends, and to be the loyal aunt her troubled niece can always count on. But since her ex-husband’s betrayal, she has trouble trusting anyone.

Jett Glover’s father committed suicide over a false newspaper report that ruined his reputation. Now a fierce champion of truth, Jett is writing the story of his journalism career - an international sex-trafficking exposé that will bring down a celebrity baseball player and the men closest to him, including Savannah’s ex-husband.

When Jett’s story breaks, tragedy ensues. Then a commercial airline crashes, and one of Savannah’s clients is implicated in the crash. Men connected to the scandal, including her ex, begin to die amid mysterious circumstances, and Savannah’s niece becomes an unwitting target.

Against their better instincts, Jett and Savannah join ranks to sort the facts from fiction. But can Savannah trust the reporter who threw her life into chaos? And can Jett face the possibility that he’s made the biggest mistake of his life?

Critic reviews

"Siiri Scott masterfully narrates this romantic thriller. Savannah is a lawyer who is working with an aeronautics company on a new black box invention. The venture becomes personal when a plane goes down and people associated with her ex-husband are killed. Scott deftly delivers several accents as well as male and female characters of varying ages. She portrays Savannah in a smoky, confident voice. As Savannah's niece is pulled into peril, Savannah is moved to investigate, and Scott rises to the occasion with added intensity. The character Jett, a catalyst in this drama, is given a cool voice that builds as his feelings and concerns ramp up for Savannah. Scott's outstanding narration makes this story invigorating listening." (Audiofile Magazine)

Great addition to the Hidden Justice Series

From the beginning to the end, Putnam captures and holds your attention with the not so obvious. I enjoyed hearing Savannah’s story and learning what drives her character. The plot sucked me in and there were times when I was literally on the edge of my seat. A wonderful addition to the series.

Layered suspense and romance

Savannah Daniels and Jett Glover are professionals with busy careers. Both deal in finding the truth, which can be elusive. They are thrown together when an expose written by Jett implicates Savannah’s ex and her niece’s father in a nasty playboy scheme. When events tie Savannah’s latest clients to a plane crash involving 2 of the men from Jett’s article, they decide working together may be the best option. They both feel the attraction, but Savannah has loved and lost before. She isn’t sure she can trust again. Expertly-woven tale of high-end intrigue and revenge. Held me to the end. The narrator didn’t differentiate between the voices well, but otherwise did a good job.

Not worth a credit

I was able to finish which is why it didn’t get 1 star. But I skipped a lot of the dialogue. No character development. And I guessed who did it half way through.

Disappointed

I have enjoyed every Cara Putnam book, but this was very disappointing. There were disconnected threads—case started by CPS, Addie went home with Savana, next AM her car rear ended, and “Addie” not mentioned. Awful deaths and no one pulling on the link to news article Jett had written; and feelings of ambivalence for Savana before Dustins death and his claims if caring, then gaining rapid interest in Jett. Not as connected and constructed as accustomed to reading from this author

Should have believed the reviews

I cannot finish this book and I can listen to virtually anything. The narration is terrible and the writing is just bad. Fortunately I didn’t pay much for it, buying it during a sale. I would be sick if I had wasted a credit on it. Give this a pass.
