Publisher's summary

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. World War Z is the result. Never before have we had access to a document that so powerfully conveys the depth of fear and horror, and also the ineradicable spirit of resistance, that gripped human society through the plague years.

Ranging from the now infamous village of New Dachang in the United Federation of China, where the epidemiological trail began with the 12-year-old Patient Zero, to the unnamed northern forests where untold numbers sought a terrible and temporary refuge in the cold, to the United States of Southern Africa, where the Redeker Plan provided hope for humanity at an unspeakable price, to the west-of-the-Rockies redoubt where the North American tide finally started to turn, this invaluable chronicle reflects the full scope and duration of the Zombie War.

it was good but there should be a complete version. and not that tack on you have to buy, which still isn't the whole book.

Only one flaw... It is too short.

I gave this 3 stars in story for only one reason. They did not tell the whole thing. The performances given in this recording are terrific. The story is excellent and very real. Mark Hamill, Alan Alda, and Henry Rollins being my favorites the only complaint i have is that this book was Abridged. There are many stories left untold in this version. I would appeal to the publishers to release another edition adding the remaining stories.

Amazing selection of voices, interesting history.

Interesting, exciting and intelligent. Another way to tell stories involving the zombie myth. An excellent experience for people trying audiobooks for the first time

Great book, too short

Please release an unabridged version of this audiobook! I read it years ago and I was looking forward to many chapters that are not included in this reading.

Excellent

Outstanding job by the cast. Great story that was very well thought out and put together. Nothing like the movie and much, much better.

Different than the movie

Where does World War Z rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this book. I read it on paperback and then purchased this to brush up before the film.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I liked the fact that there were 4 different narrators. I enjoyed that because I did not grow tired of the voice.

If you could take any character from World War Z out to dinner, who would it be and why?

The Israeli Soldier lady.
